I looked it up for you. Florida requires brakes @ 3000#.

Some States respect the laws of the State that the trailer is licensed in. Some states do not. You may want to check the laws of any State that you travel through.

Trailer brakes are amazingly inexpensive and save a lot of wear & tear on the TV. Florida is quite flat so brake fade in the mountains is not an issue there, just be careful if you are over 1500# and travel in the mountains.

What states do not respect the equipment laws of the state that your trailer/vehicle is registered in?

Does he need the 7 pin if he isn't using back up lights back on the camper? (I sure like mine and think it's a worthwhile add)

Probably not but if you're going to buy one, I say, buy one that you won't regret later. They aren't that expensive. If you don't use a pin, just leave it vacant. It'll be there if you need it later and you won't have to buy a whole new set-up.

Good point...or if you ever upgrade, at least your TV is all dialed in.

Don't forget the TV.

You'll need to activate an existing charge line or wire in a charge line.
AWG 8 would be good, 10 at minimum, wired via relay that turns off with ignition.

My favorite charging while towing tale! bigger is better!

As for # of pins, since 4 is not enough to have charging whole towing, you'll need 7 pin. 5, 6, 8 etc would do but are becoming less and less available!

What tow vehicle (TV) will you be wiring?
The t-one connectors are easy to install so are the 4-7 adapters that have prewired leads for charge line, brake, ground and aux!
