Hello fellow pop-upers!!  First post here but have gained SO much knowledge from reading other posts.

We bought our PU last year and used 3 times but BEFORE we ever got a chance...SlAM went the roof.  Turns out the pin that holds all the gears for the lift system together, SNAPPED!  We fixed it ourselves and now can't help but kringe every time we pop it up....
I thought I have heard in the past about support bars you can get just in case this happens while you are sleeping!! :yikes:

Does anyone know where to get one or had any similar issues with the actual gear system?

Thanks for reading!!

Those safety "support bars" are custom fitted to go over the lifters on specific lift systems, they are in fact metal "C" channels. There may be a generic product available that would fit your lifters but I don't know of one. What I have heard of is cutting two 2" X 2"'s to the exact length when the camper roof is at it's optimum height, that fit between the  roof and the camper base. You could use one of those small, short lengths of bungie cord to hold the 2 X 2's in place next to the lifters. Since the door (when closed) would also serve as a "safety bar", I'd put one across from the door and the other diagonally across to that rear lifter.

You would have to remember they are in place when it came time to close up! The positive thing is they would give you some peace of mind and the cost would be minimal.

Wow, pin break, that's like the main cable breaking!

The door ought to hold up one side!
