does anyone know who makes the stuff or where I can get some?? I ran out today. I couldn't find it in the store. We bought another awning cleaner at walmart and doesn't work nearly as well..in a word..Sucks

Tilex with mildewicide.  Rinse awning to get it wet.  Spray Tilex on both sides, roll up awning, let set for a couple of hours.  Unroll, lightly brush any areas that still might look dirty and rinse.  It'll look like new.  Many use this method with TT, 5ver and motorhome awnings.  Don't see why it won't work with pup awnings.

Couple of hours may be overkill, I may be mixing that up with disinfecting the water system.  Went back and checked RV.net, there's no real formula for it.  Times range from 10 minutes to "an hour or so..." to "3 beers".   I suppose after 3 beers you wouldn't care about mildew on anything, let alone your awning.  The formula also varied.  Some simply used bleach and water or bleach soap and water.  Other concoctions are recommended.

I did it last year with Tilex, awning was clean, bright white all season.  I don't remember how long I let it sit.  It's getting mildewed again but I won't do it again until next year.  Just don't want to use strong chemicals on it any more frequently than I really have to.  I do have to say it did the job amazingly well.

I use Simple Green to clean our awning and it works great. I just spray it on full strength and let is set for a couple minutes and then scrub with a brush I have for washing the car that a garden hose attaches to so water runs through the brush.

Can I use the tilex with mildewicide or the Simple Green on my pop out ends?
I need to get the tree residue off from parking under the trees while camping.
Thanks:U

Cleaning the canvas on the pup itself is a little more problematic.  You don't want that to lose it's waterproofing.  The best thing to start with is simply water and a gentle scrubbing.  If that doesn't work, Dreft or Woolite is about the strongest detergent you would want to use.  Even at that, you might find yourself using a waterproofing product on the tenting.

Probably the best piece of advice might be to check your owners manual first to see what they recommend and start with that process.

Well, my Starcraft is a '99 model ... bought it the first of '00, it was one of those "left over" models and the awning that came with it is the one that's still in service today.. It has suffered pine sap. bird poop, mildew and whatever else an awning can endure. And the cleaner that has proved the best ... removing pine sap, dirt and mildew .. has been good 'ole timey Pine-Sol.

Used 2B PopUPTimes

The PUT Awning Cleaner was from Land & Sea Products in Grand Rapids MI. I originally bought about 300 quarts of the cleaner with custom printed bottles and then discovered that shipping this stuff was expensive and messy. We had several shipments returned because the bottles leaked.

It works great but I ended up giving most of the awning cleaner away at rallies that I attended just to get rid of it.

Hey Dee,

We just cleaned ours yesterday after returning from Pt. Mugu. The entire trailer was way overdue for a bath.

Anyway, I used the Simple Green and warm water with a little bit of vinegar thrown in. Then rolled it up and let it sit for about "3 beers" :D
Rolled it back down and the spots that didn't just wipe off I used the awning cleaner available from Camping World. Camco brand I think. Wouldn't want to use a lot of it as it is expensive.

I'm going to try to remember the Tilex solution next time around. But I think any mild cleanser with a mildewcide and some whitener (doesn't Tilex have bleach in it?) would work. I've used Soft Scrub for the really tough spots on the awnings and on the tent ends. I'm very gentle with this stuff.

all the stuff says don't let it dry, I'm assuming rollin it up for "3 beers" keeps it from drying??

I have a bottle and a half that Dave gave me at one of the ralleys. I just used it to clean my awning, roof and the sides of my PU just a few day ago.
