The DW and I are leaving Wednesday morning to go to the Nascar race in Joliet.  We usually have to stay with friends or in a hotel, but not this year, we have our own digs.  We rented a spot in a field basically that has power only.  My questions are.....besides our blue barker tote for grey water and our jugs to haul water in (they have a well we can use to get water so we don't have to pay the water guy), what else do we need specific to this kind of camping?  We usually get full hookups.

Our camper has a cassette potty and a shower.

My son and I have camped at both Lowes Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.  It is by far some of the most fun camping we do each year.  You really feel part of the action and nothing beats not having to fight traffic before and after the race.  We have also been lucky to have nice neighbors at the campgrounds.

Having a shower will be great.  We either use the showers at the speedway (Lowes) or do the solar shower/camping wipes at Martinsville.

Have fun!

You might want to carry a spare battery. In some of those type situations, the power doesn't always stay on. Is this a regular campground or someone just running extension cords from their house?

NASCAR camping is awesome !  You get to watch all of the crazy people trying to leave the track while you sit back and enjoy a good evening !

We camped NASCAR races with a MH  but now in PUP.  You really only need a port o pot and coleman water heater on demand unit.  Large shower hut and good to go !  At Lowes track they have a nice  shower next to the RV center.  All good fun  and many left turns.  Have fun and enjoy!

Thanks for all the responses.  Wavery....it is just basically a farm family who rents out part of their field to people who want to camp.  They have been doing this for 9 years I guess.  They have "big generators" and lots of them.  I think I will make sure our battery is charged.  We have always camped where we at least had electricity so far so the battery thing is new to us.  I assume I will need an adaptor for my 30 amp plug..??

You probably will need an adapter and should have one anyway. They are about $10 at Walmart.

I have an adaptor that I use to plug her in at home to clean so I guess I am good to go then.
Drop the kiddies off at grandma's, grab the coolers (full of frosty cool beverages) and hit the road.  Now I have to just get off work.
