Are there any issues that I should be aware about adding a 4 bike rack to the reciever hitch.  I looked at two that both have extensions to the receiver.  One has the bike rack and a ball already attached and the other has two receiving holes and you buy your own bike rack & add your own hitch ball in the second hole.  My tow vehicle is very capable...GMC Yukon 1500 XL.

I wouldn't think there would be a problem as long as you're within the weight limits of your TV. I've been thinking about doing the very same thing with the double receiver idea. The only caveat may be that by extending the trailer hitch ball farther out from the bumper, you could see more rear-end sag with the PUP hooked up (longer lever, so to speak).

Let us know which way you go, and how it works out for you.
Good luck and Happy Camping

You won't have any issues with your YukonXL, but ........ remember the bikes are back there so you don't crush them into the front of the camper on tight turns, both pulling forward, and backing up.  That would really be a drag.

That setup is exactly how I do it. No problems at all.

Which set up do your have.  The double receiver with seperate bike rack and separate ball or the bike rack with the ball at the end going into one receiver.  Do you have any issues of crushing your  bikes on sharp turns and what is your TV.  I'm just trying to cover all ends minimizing issues.

Thank you everyone for the input.

I don't have either so I can't comment on the towing, but I am an avid cyclist and have used many bike racks so I can comment on that. The problem with the second one (swagman) is that you are locked into using that specific rack and that type of rack is limited in the types of bikes frames it can handle. Many new bikes have different types of frames(especially mountain and kids bikes) that don't fit racks like that. So before you lock yourself into that rack double check that all the bikes you intend to carry have a frame that will fit that rack!

I use the seperate bike rack and ball, the double mount in the first link. No issues whatsoever.
