hurricane season in the s.e. some time forces you to camp...unfortunately some times you are ''dry camping'' in your own house...[if you are lucky]......what is the latest scoop on 12v portable t v s.......do not see them in stores any more ???

Just Google 12 volt TV and alot shows up but there pricey. I just use a small inverter to run my 15" lcd/dvd player and costs much less.

I have been watching for a new digital dual power TV/DVD combo to replace our analog Emerson 9" TV/DVD.  The Emerson we have has a padded canvas carrying case and fits great in the storage under the popup seat.

I have a digital TV tuner in my laptop, but don't want expose the computer and the data on it to the perils camping might pose.

What I have found so far is a NAXA NX-543 13.3 inch widescreen HD LCD television with digital tuner and DVD.  It has 12 volt and 120 volt power supply.

A Skyworth brand 15" dual power LCD TV/DVD with dual power is available at truck stops.

Both of these are just around $300 and although dual power, don't have a carry case.

Everywhere I have asked (Sears, Radio Shack, HH Gregg, Best Buy) tell me they have had a lot of inquiries for a rugged dual power TV/DVD either for camping or tailgating. With that demand, I suspect there may be more options in the future.

those options have one too many zeros on the price tags.  i don't understand the price jump with the 12v digital models.......110v digital did not change in price that much.....found out that when the power goes out, your info comes from your a m port. radio..but when the sun goes down you are not getting your local stations...also the fcc makes certain stations turn down power at sunset....f m plays music,so the only source of info was coming from the 12v t v........just like ''dry camping''........this will leave a big gap in keeping the public up to date when power is lost for a long period....

I bought a 120/12 volt digital, stereo,hd 8.5" lcd tv on Ebay for $124.00 + shipping last fall. We have used it for several camping trips and it works great. A friend of mine bought a 10" 120/12 volt digital tv at Walgreens for about the same price (less shipping of course) and it is very similar to the one I bought on Ebay but a bit bigger picture.
