How do people feel about the forum as a separate site

As I'm looking over things it occurs to me that the forum may be in a better position to be found if it were under the popup times umbrella rather than a separate web site.
 
How do people feel about about the forum domain?

When I first found the forum.. I found PopUpTimes first, then clicked on the forum link.

I'm not quite sure what your looking for, as for whether it is forum web site or PopUptimes.com/forum. I have no preference.

That's sorta what I was thinking...... I did the same thing.

The guy that I bought my PU from said, "Check-out PopUpTimes.com", so I did and here I am......I think......................I am here......Right???

I agree... with the link from pop up times to here, I dont think it matters either.

I also found the forum with a Yahoo search for popup information.  I found the magazine first and subscribed, and then entered the forum. Having saved as a favorite place, I guess I never really noticed the forum domain until you asked.

Popup times comes up when searching for popup campers, but I see forum domain quite a bit less. Currently PUX won't come up do to some google issues, but normally I see it all the time, even when I'm not looking for camping related content.
 
As I'm dealing with this google issue, it occured to me that the number of visits from search engines is very low although the number of click throughs from popup times is actually higher than the number of visits from Google, this may be in part to several people getting to forum through popup times.
 
I ran into another issue as I have been trying to solve the PUX google problem, I had people telling me the reason for the problem is that all my sites are cross linked and some even told me all my sites should be combined into a single site which I disagree with completely. They claim part of the problem is duplicate content on each of the sites, anyway, long story short if I follow the logic Popup times could get penalized for it's link to the forum and vice versa as well as the cross linking with the rest of my sites. The claim is that it artificially enhances your google rating.
 
It's a mad world, I can't just worry about what the users of the site think and try to operate in their best interest, nor how to best manage several sites, I have to worry about what google thinks and make adjustments that don't make sense to me in order to maintain my listing in the number one search engine.

I will add a comment about the ad I just saw at the bottom of the page.  It was for Caesar's Palace and for a family friendly site I wasn't too thrilled about the picture in the ad. My son reads these posts with me.

trying to remember back that far but I think originally you accessed the message board from the main PUT home page. I think forum was established as a "direct" link to the board instead of the PUT home page THEN message board...
I think because of this other PUT info isn't seen by going directly to forum.

now to answer your question which do I prefer...whatever makes it easier for you to maintain and manage..

to go to PUT then click on message board is not a big deal. I can also "favorite" the message board and go from there...

I found this forum through popup times too.  I think it's fine to move off the forum domain.

Hey DNO...........how about making more room for our avatars??? Something like 300x200 would be nice...
 
Some of us would like to use a pic of our camper and the avatar is SOOOOOOOOOOO small that you can't tell what it is......much less tell.....where we are in this tangled up web...:p.....

Wavery, 300x200 is pretty bit, that would be almost as big as the three ads on top which are 300x250, what I would suggest.... asuming it's supported by this software is to add your camper pic to your signtature. Many of the PUX members do this now. We do however have guidelines for the signature pics, looks like it's 400x100 as a max size, but I would be willing to entertain having something a little deeper here.
 
on another note, looks like PUX is listed again, hopefully this is permanent and just pending an investigation.
