The original press-board table in my '82 Coleman Redwood is getting pretty shabby.  Has anyone made a replacement top for their table and what did you use?  I have thought about plywood or plastic, like what is used for cutting boards.  I want it to be durable but not weigh a ton.  Cost is a consideration as well.  Any suggestions?

You might try your local cabinetry shop and take your old table to them and see if they have any scrap pieces that you could have or they could even cut it out for you and you could stain and urithane or just urithane and that should do you much better than factory and you don't have to buy a whole sheet of plywood.

You might be able to get the shop to use a laminate counter top scrap or remnant.  Then they could router the groove into the edge and put some of that vinyl trim in to finish it and it would be as good or better then new.

I recovered my table top along with my cabinets and galley counter tops with formica from Lowes... I roughed up the old surface with 100 grit sandpaper. I then used the laminate cement and applied new T molding on the edges... Seems to be holding up fine for the last couple of years...

Many years ago I made one for a friend's boat. We used a scrap piece of marine grade plywood and coated it w/ gelcoat using a black dye. It came out great.

Coleman / Fleetwood began using a polymer table top a numbers of years ago.
It's a single piece construction, without the "T" groove that they installed the plastic decreative trim inside. PITA.... always seperating from the top.apart.

Although it's very nice, it's pretty expensive.
When I checked the price of the table top alone, it was over $225, and then you had to attach the original folding legs to the new top.
