Ok so I have certainly gotten my use out of my camper this year....6 trips in all and one more on the way.  This past weekend my front jack has seemed to strip out, it will not hold the wait of my camper anymore. It is on a swing arm with the small wheel on it.   I didnt think it was a big deal to replace it until I realized that it is completely welded on.  Any suggestions?

Thanks

Here is one that you might want to consider. It has a larger wheel which makes it easier to roll around:

It has a 500# rating.

Unfortunately, you may have to grind off the welds on the existing jack. I can't imagine why they welded it on.....

Actually, it is not completely welded on.

I had this exact problem 5-6 years ago (My jack was a BAL).  It was going up, stopped going up, and then slid all the way down. :(  I've heard of 2-3 others having the same problem.

At the point that it swings up and down, there is a large retaining spring (may have the term wrong).  Look for a thin, round spring 5-6 inches in diameter, with a short break in it.  At the break it can be spread out (not easy with typical handyman tools, but do-able) and removed.  Then the jack can just be slid off.  If I recall, removing the jack eventually included breaking the spring (which really should not be necessary), and installing the new one involved a lot of cussing under the breath...

I have no recollection how much I paid for the replacement jack.

Ditto on probably haveing to grind the old weld off ... any quality welding shop would know how to do it and have the equipment for same.

Sometimes with some jack manufacturers you can buy the inner replacement parts and rebuild them. Here's an example ~

As AB points out, no need to grind the weld off.  It is only the bracket that is welded in place.

I would bet you have a BAL model 29005 swivel model tongue jack.

If not destroyed, you can service the jack by following the direction on my Tongue Jack Service Web Page

The swivel jack is held in place with a snap ring, which as has been pointed out are near impossible to remove without the correct tool.  You need a pair of Snap Ring Pliers..  This tongue jack is a standard Fleetwood/Coleman item and can be had at almost any dealership or at any BAL RV Products Dealer.
