My Favorite Places to Camp ....

I've got maybe half a dozen (or so) great places to camp. Of course, fishing is a part of that, specifically fly fishing.

Here's a special spot in the Nantahala Nat'l Forest with campsite right at a  trout stream. Just downriver about a mile and a half (as the crow flies) is a lake this stream empties into. If you can't catch 'em stream side, there's always the lake, especially at the mouth of this stream. But it's always fun to fish both places!

That looks like a really nice place.

Another great spot not too far from the campsite already posted, which was  along side the trout stream, is this one that is further back into the boonies and along side a small mountain creek that is hard to see. I mean these are remote sites that do offer a main water spigot and a Pitt toilet, but what they lack in amenities they offer seclusion and privacy ... you cannot even see the five other sites! On the back side of this site, if you were to walk beyond the C/G picnic table, is a mountain creek. You can put a mellon or milk or drinks right into the creek and with the ice cold creek water, all will stay fresh. Just don't forget to take the milk and mellons out at night or they will  not be there in the morning!

And this is what that ,little creek looks like. I should also say that it contains nice little pools where mountain brook trout hang out and are so wonderful for breakfast!

Was hoping others would post their favorite sites as well.

MotherNature

I'm trying to post my pics; I'm having a bit of trouble - my IT person (14-year-old son) says that it will be resolved soon :D We have 3 parks that we visit every year and have favorites; I have to mention that, in one particular case, the 'favorite' is not the best site in the park, it's just usually the best one available when we make our reservations (always seems to be the same one and we concentrate on the positive and make the best of it - the happy memories make it the favorite).  Speaking of favorites, I really enjoyed the previous thread pics; they certainly look like a wonderful place to spend a few days!  Great idea for a thread!

ForestCreature

Most of my boondocking pics are on film and not scanned into the computer. But I do have a couple of pics from some rustic CGs we like on my flicker pages.

This was from this past Sept. Camp set up and the following pic is the view we have from that spot. On the top ten list of favs..

Local State park camping in early May. Mothers day weekend I think.

And here is another NFS campsite we like.

GeneF

We have camped at too many places to really call any one of them a top favorite.  We tend to enjoy the moment.

People that we have met while camping are what we have the fondest memories of.  Tons of them with ForestCreature. :)  Euchre anyone?  Gary, watch out for that cliff.
