What do we do to the wheels?

We've had our camper for over a year and we've never done anything to the wheels... after 10 or so camping trips.  What do we need to do and how often?

Thanks,
Desera

I'm not sure I fully understand your question. I'm assuming you're referring to the wheel bearings and brakes. If you have your PUP's owners manual, you should find some info in there regarding maintenance, and specifically, wheel bearing and brake inspection and maintenance. That being said, as a general rule, you should repack the wheel bearings with a good quality bearing grease annually. While you have the wheels and hubs off, this is a good time to inspect the brakes and brake drums (if you have them - many of the smaller box PUPs don't). This is a pretty easy DIY project that you can do in about an hour. Just remember, when you put the wheels back on, make sure to torque the lug nuts properly. An inexpensive torque wrench is a good tool to have in your tool box.

I hope that answers your question. I'm sure the local experts (those with gobs more experience than me) will chime in, as well.

Good luck

That was exactly my question.  The trailer does have brakes also.  I just have to get my hubby to do it... he always tells me they're fine and I worry too much, I don't think so.  Just trying to arm myself with a checklist for him, lol.  We're new to this and don't have a clue so any advice would be great!

I agree with waterdoctor, an annual check of bearings and brakes is essential for safety. Check the wear on the tires too, and check for dry rot. A blow out doing 60 on the freeway is not the time to think of this.

I did mine for about 140.00 bucks that's replacing the brakes and having the drums turned and new seals and grease caps. i went to the local trailer place bought the complete brakes assembly they came with new shoe and springs magnet and backing plate about 1 work.

Start with the Spring Shakedown Clinic!

Your coachman doesn't have the wiffletree but you could adjust the brakes and clean and inspect bearing/repack, etc.
'They' suggest doing it annually.
