1978 coleman support pole replace cable

we replaced the top pulley on  the right rear support pole of 1978 coleman TICONDEROGA  but it looked like it had been worked on before they had it twisted.. but once we got it where it's suppose to be it looks like they have slack in the cable.. so my question is replace cable? or adust at whiffle tree? ir replace how? what type of cable?  what is the easiest to do? this is the problem when lowering the roof the right rear wont go down. it up in the air.  when up cable is tight when lowered it has slack in cable underneath! please help
