My power jack has stopped working and when I pulled the fuse there was condensation - it's a 30 amp 250 volt fuse which I can't find at the Travel Land RV store, Walmart, Radio Shack, or Pep Boys - the jack is powered by the battery - Walmart did have a 30 amp 32 volt fuse - can I use that one? Or do I have to have the same fuse that was in the power jack and if so, where do I buy one?? Wavery, Brad, Brian, Mike - thanks for your input.

Amperage is Amperage, 250v is the max rating. If it fits the holder it will work, its only a 12v system. But why did it blow ??

The power jack just stopped working - I'm starting with the fuse - so I can use the 30 amp / 32 volt fuse? The battery is fully charged.

Its safe as long as you know weather it was a slow blow or not. Our 24 volt control centers use a 250v but really not necessary,an automotive 30 amp should work...if its the same style.

IM SURE ILL BE CORRECTED IF WRONG.

Yep, the 30A/32V fuse should work just fine (get a couple of them at least).

Before you try it again, make sure that your battery connection is tight, the water level is good in your batteries and they are fully charged.

If everything is tight and charged and the fuse still blows, it could be a problem with the jack. You might want to get it cleaned and lubed. If the jack screw is dirty or lacking grease, it will make the motor work too hard and blow a fuse.

The jack screw could have gotten some sand in it at Mugu. That will put a lot of stress on the motor.

did the fuse blow or was it just condensated?  If condensation is a problem I would check the switch that operates the jack, it may be wet also and not able to make a good connection.

Think about getting it cleaned and lubed Dave. Normally, fuses don't blow for no reason.

If all you did was stick in a new fuse, plan on it blowing again if the underlying problem hasn't been resolved.

It would be a good idea to carry a bottle jack with you, just in case. My (manual crank) tongue jack failed on me last weekend. If I hadn't have had a bottle jack, I don't know how I would have put the tongue on the hitch...... :(
