I decided to get one when we had our old TV since it was a bit messy towing the camper it seemed to help. I always use it, I guess I just feel safer with it. Do others use a sway stabilizer.

When I bought my popup, I had never towed anything before. I did ask about adding the sway stabilizer and was told It wasn't necessary. After leaving dealership and going over the bridge between Washington and Oregon some big trucks went by and the trailer was allover the road. I could see cars backing way off, I managed to hit the break lever on the break controller and all straightened out. That was a Ford Explorer towing a Coleman Niagara. Needless to say that was a scary experience. I ended up turning around and going back to the dealer to get setup with sway stabilizer. I still prefer to have it.

Never used a sway bar with our pup. In all the years and different TVs we've had never had any sway issues.
First TV was a Chevy Astro van, second TV was a Chevy Blazer. Now we have a GMC Acadia. But then our pup only weighs 1500# dry. Towing it with the Acadia the only way I know it's back there is feeling that third bump of the pup tires!

I think you are better safe than sorry. If you get into a bad sway situation and you panic it's easy for things to go bad. I believe sway stabilizers help prevent most swaying before it can start.

Our pup has never swayed, even when we were doing 75 and had triple trailer semi's passing us at 90+ MPH. With our front storage box more weight is forward.

I did have some bad sway my first time towing as stated above. I felt like I was seconds away from loosing it. I believe it was my scariest driving moment ever. My vehicle was all over the road. I think now I might just hit the accelerator to straighten things out again. Since it was my first time towing anything I was also a bit timid. I have never had any issues towing after that. After I got the sway stabilizer towing felt much better.

If we were towing a large pup sway bars would probably be added. Now if I ever get my dream pup, a high wall with a slide out, sway bars will be on.
