RE: 1st Class Postage, is it really necessary?

I got my PUT issue yesterday, in the big white envelope.  Postage was $1.06.  
 
 Let s see, " $1.06"  times " 6 issues"  times " how many of us (400+)"  times " big white envelope"  equals a whole bunch " $$$" .  I am guessing about $2,600.00 so far.  I wonder how much more it costs now compared to the older rate.  I am guessing about four times the cost of bulk rates.  Do you think Dave and crew could use the extra to provide for other more " worthy"  benefits of membership?
 
 Do we really need 1st class postage?  
 
 I for one am willing to give up 1st Class postage.  It is nice, but not necessary.

I agree.  If the PUT magazine is sent using 1st class it might get here 2 or 3 days earlier, but not worth the extra expense to PUT.  I d rather have other benefits.

I am going to disagree on this one. Since going to the 1st class postage ,I have recieved my magazine in a timely fashion.
 Before then I was lucky to recieve it a month after everyone else, a few times it never made it and had to call......I like getting it this way[]

I am going to go with Forest Creature on this one too---at this point because I have not received my issue yet.  But in the past it seems like there has been a month or more from " Hey I go mine"  to the end of the " Where is mine?"  threads.
 
 These are business decisions Dave is making.  He must feel that this is the best us of the fees.

I may be wrong but I believe the first class postage is extended to members who join the board.  I think it was one of the benefits of joining.
 
 
 If it is just a subscription, then it goes the normal rate.

I believe the statement made by GeneF is correct.  Getting the mag by first class is one of the benefits of joining the board.  Others get theirs through normal mail.

 Dave, while your math is quite accurate there are a couple of things you have not accounted for:

• Not all mambers of the Arvee Club subscribe to the magazine[&:], so it is not anywhere near 400 going first class
• The postage differents is really not 4X, more like 3X

 This is a benefit that comes with club membership.

I like mine coming first class also. At least now it gets here without the cove being torn or all wrinkled up. Also it is kind of a surprise when you open the envolpe and then first see what the cover has on it this time.

Doesnt really matter to me. Im a charter member but funny mine doesnt come first class. Oh well like I said before Im always a day late and a dollar short LOL
