Could anybody suggest campgrounds at the Grand Canyon or Yosemite National Parks?  They don t have to be inside the parks, but I would like hookups.

I m thinking of a trip out that way this summer and I know I have to get the reservations in as soon as I can...

 Edina KidHey Kid ---

I m in the process of planning a trip to the Vegas area the last week of July and am working on a site as well.  My DW s father has recently purchased some land just off I-40 near Flagstaff.  We are going to check with him on the possibility of setting up out there in the middle of nowhere but close to everything we would like to see and do.

However, if this doesn t work out, maybe you could let me know of some good places in that area as well.  Also, there are some campgrounds in downtown Vegas but I don t know the rates.

Besides,  we like free or a contribution for power use, better than downtown.

Since we are coming from the Norfolk, VA area, minimal expenses are the preferred route.

 Thanks

Edina KidIf you go to the Yosemite website, there is a " button"  there specifically for camping and lodging.  We re going there this summer, too, but we re going to stay at the Housekeeping Camp.  Friends who we pop-up with went last summer and said it was wonderful and the location of it in relation to the things you want to see can t be beat.  They also warned about paying attention to swift water warning signs.  They thought wading would be okay and almost lost their son down the river![:o]

As far as the Grand Canyon, they also have a website.  Some other people we talked to said to stay at the side of the rim that doesn t have all the campgrounds (I can t remember if this is the north or south side, but when you look at lodging, it will be easy to tell which side they were talking about.)   They said the side with all the lodging places is very crowded and developed.  They said the other side was very peaceful and nature-y.  Depends on what you re looking for, I guess.

Good luck.  Get a Pop-Up Times sticker and I ll look for you when we re in Yosemite.

Edina KidThank you for the replies!  The north side of Grand Canyon is less crowded but it is more difficult to get there.  I have checked the websites and they do have a lot of info there.

I m looking forward to seeing Yosemite; I ve never been there before.  We visited Grand Canyon about 11 years ago, but we stayed at a hotel and did not camp (pre-kids, pre popup)

We are still in the planning stages.  Cavman, that is one long road trip!  There are lots of places to stay in the Vegas area.  Make sure you see Hoover Dam, it is amazing!

Edina KidAre you going to the north or south rim of the canyon?   There are no cg w/hookups in the park on either side.
