fivegonefishing

Hi gang thought I?d start a welcome to the ARVEE message board thread.  I know some of the new members joining ARVEE may not be new but then again, some may be!  That being the case, maybe a little popupography if you would, might be nice to help introduce us to each other. I?ll start:

Handle is fivegonefishing because there are five in my family and we all love to fish.
We started popup camping in 2002 using our new a Jayco Eagle 10SG
There is Me, DH, DD age 7 and twin DS,s soon to be 5
We live in Toronto, Canada and really enjoy camping in Ontario?s Provincial Parks.  Our goal is to try to camp in each park at least once, I think there are over 100 so, it may take a little time. I have met some great people through PUT and looking forward to meeting even more.

 So let?s hear from everyone!

whippetwrun

fivegonefishingWhippetwrun is due to having 2 Whippets, both of which I have had to run after one time or another when DS has let them out the front door.[&:]

We tent camped a little before.  Then in July 2002, we got our Mesa.  Now DH, DS ( 96) and DD ( 99) are as happy to camp as I have always been.  Even the dogs enjoy it.  So now every time there is a free weekend on the calendar, the first question asked is where should we pick to go this time?  We even planned a two week vacation in the popup this summer.[:D]

PUT and the folks on this site have been and continue to be our saving grace in learning the ins and outs to pop up camping.  We really enjoyed meeting some of the PUTers at the PUT Rally last fall.

tatrtot

fivegonefishingOur handle is tatrtot as that is the nickname of our Cocker Spaniel Tate.

We got our popup (2002 Coleman Cheyenne) last August and just love it.  We are already planning all our spring, summer, fall trips.  We find that is the best thing about the popup as compared to tent camping.  We can easily go camping 3/4 of the year.

We are from Oakville, Ontario.  There is myself and DH, DD 4, Cocker Spaniel, German Sheppard and black cat.

birol

fivegonefishingI am the most useless and the loudest of the board !

Never camped but burning with the desire to get a PU and start curing that problem !

Have a 98 Windstar which is almost ready to tow. As soon as I find a job I am buying a PU so fast , my head will be spinning for the next three days !

Oh, I have a DW (babette) , and a DS (13.9 )  and a DD (10 going on 17 !), who keeps bugging me to buy a PU already ! If you have an exta PU lying around, I will come and take it [:D]

Gamecock Camper

fivegonefishingGamecock Camper is the name, and camping is my game. (hardy har har)... I m and University of South Carolina graduate and one of many Gamecock fans (the best fans on the planet)..... just ask Lou Holtz, we have the biggest donations per win than any other university in the US...

gnsmith

fivegonefishinggnsmith here, DW and I have been PU campers for about 20 years . We had to stop for about 8 years due to are jobs and DD s . as the kids got older and in high school and college . We just couldn t find the time. But now kids are on there own.[:D][:D] One in Louisville , Ky and One in NY city. We have started back . That was a long 8 years. [:)] .

reallygreen

fivegonefishingHey gnsmith -- We re from Springfield, Ohio, too!  Small world.

We ve camped in a tent on and off for over 30 years and got a pop-up last March.  We ve had a ball with it and feel we re in the lap of luxury (although seeing the PU in the new Pop-Up Times with a built-in oven and microwave gives me pause).  We have a son in Oregon and a daughter and grandson in Allentown, PA.  We ve avoided many mistakes by reading this board and learning from the experiences of others.  We dug the old dutch oven out of storage and have been having fun with it too.

 Life is good!

dee106

fivegonefishingwell my nickname since i was a kid was dee, so it stuck, 106 that number or a combo of that number always pops up in my life, so i used it! my husband and i come from camping families, so i was always camping, we both  started out in tents in the 60 s stayed that way until the 90 s Got tired of the wet ground,so we got a used 1975 starcraft, basic unit. (that was in 1998) then DH fell in love at an RV show and we moved up to 2000 starcraft with the slide and the works!  my son loved it because he was getting to big for the full size beds, and we went to queen/king beds. Then my DH  was getting tired of folding it up in the rain[: (] all the time and we do a lot of camping, four full weeks a year and three weekends a month from April to November. So ! back to another RV show and guess what!  we fell in love with the 2003 starcraft sso travel star (hybrid) and was given the best of  all worlds, sleeping in a tent but not having to crank it up/down. [:D] so we looked around for a while to get the right price and trade-in and we got it this past October

We live in New York City, and we Keep this unit at a campground in NJ, about 50 mins away, so when we want a weekend get-a-way we just hop in the van and go, turn the key in the door and fold down the beds and we are home! and if its raining we leave the sides up and snuggly up on the couch bed....

Campntime

fivegonefishingGreat thread and glad for an opportunity to get our feet wet with a post.  We are Newbees.  Seems like all we think about is  Time to go camping ... thus  campntime  for a username.

We live in E. Central IL and are longtime Coleman fans.  Most camping trips are wife and me, 2 sons..1 married which adds 2 grand daughters and 1 not but who brings a girl friend...plus 2 Golden Redtrievers.

Our family started with a tent, then on to a  79 Brandywine...then an 83  Seneca and as of late a  01 Bayside.  The old message board was a tremendous help getting us through a bunch of nusance things on the Bayside...but still think it is one of the greatest PU s out there.

Like a moth drawn to the flame, we could not stay away from PUT.  We subscribed with a membership about 10 days ago.  You are great people, we learn so much and there is a common bond to the outdoors here.  Great to be here!

cyclone

fivegonefishingHi there!  I m Cyclone, as in Iowa State Cyclones (yes, I m an alumnus).  I grew up camping in a tent, and later 2 pop-ups.  Also spent 2 summers as a camp staffer....sort of camping!  By this time, my parents had sold the camper and I stopped camping for a while.  Finally bought a tent and have been tenting ever since.  Still a wanna-be, but that may change in a year or so!  My parents still camp (but not as often these days) in a  94 Palomino and they have decided that this summer might be it for camping.  So, the " negotiating"  is underway for buying the pu cheap!  (and, they will be allowed to borrow it if they want to, but that s a whole different thread [;)]).  Typically, I camp in state parks or COE parks (of which there are many within an hour of home).  Actually, I m only a mile or so from the lake.   Planning several trips this summer with TPUC and PUT friends; looking forward to that!  Camper dog (Jocie) loves to camp, too.  And, if it s football season you " might"  see a tv tuned into the Titans  games at my site.

Miller Tyme

fivegonefishingHowdy, I m Jim, also known as Miller Tyme. The user name comes from the fact that after camp is set up, what time is it? Changed the I to Y to avoid any lawsuits.[;)]
Any way, Linda and I are planning a late summer wedding, maybe one of our camping weekends. Christopher is my son by my second wife, and TJ and Tiffany are Linda s grandkids(she has custody of them). We also have two ferrets, Frank and Jr., who go with us occasionally.
This is our second pop-up, and we are looking at a 24ft TT and a seasonal site to put it on. We ll still keep the pop-up for weekend trips.[8D]
I m in the drywall trade(finishing and hanging) so getting weekends off takes a little planning. However, my boss has a 28ft TT, so most weekends I m gone, so is he.[;)]
I m registered on most of the camping forums. Being that it s winter here in Central Wisconsin, I have a lot of time to chat.
Just gotta keep thinking...only two more months![8D]

AustinBoston

fivegonefishingHello, My name is AustinBoston, and I am a PUTaholic...oh, wrong meeting.

Austin is my middle name, and was used by my grandfather as a nickname. (It s been in the family for generations, usually as a middle name.)  I added the " Boston"  first because on an early version of the board (prior to the Coolboards), someone had already registered Austin, and partly so that people would not assume I was from Texas.

My first experience with pop-upping were two trips where my folks borrowed my uncle s pop-up in the 1970 s.  When PJay and I married in  82, we wanted a pop-up, but kids and mortgages put that off. We planned a huge trip for the summer of  00 (that got put off until the summer of  01).  The plan was to take the whole summer off and travel the country.  When I started thinking about setting up and taking down a tent camp 30 or more times, it made me very weary.  Convincing PJay to buy the pop-up was easy.  Convincing me to buy the Bayside was not, but happy to say she won.[;)]

Beware, many of my posts are quite long, but I try to make sure they are well written, factual, entertaining, and easy to understand.  From the responses I get, sometimes I even succeed![8D]

One other thing, I carry an official " Always Right"  card, and as yet have never been wrong about anything.[: (]

Austin (who shouldn t always be taken seriously)

rednekrubbrduck

fivegonefishingHowdy, my name is Ian with my DW Lori (CatsMeow), and DS Logan.  My handle comes from once when I sang the song " rubberducky"  to dear wife in bed changing some of the words around to make it a bit naughty.  She said I was her " rednek rubber ducky" .  Shortenned it a bit and dropped the " y"  cause " ducky"  would just be silly.  I started camping with my dad when I was knee high to a grass hopper in the Adorondaks staying in lean to s, did the military style camping when I was in the military, and started camping with my exwife few years ago in a tent.  Had a monster 4 rm tent that we used once (took forever to set up), and it was miserable in the heat, and it rained that weekend which made it worse.  An older couple across from us had a PU, and had it set up in like 15 mins AND were grilling.  That was it...went to an RV show...liked the colemans, and that was all she wrote.  My DW likes it (hadn t been camping in 10 years till she met me), and loves to PU.  We have a favorite CG on a lake like 20 mins from us that doesn t take reservations, so it s easy to get a good spot, just have to get there thursday or friday.  We ll see how much camping we can get in this year with DW just back to work from being on dissability, and me being layed off since Nov.  We ll see.  Thanks.

PI

fivegonefishingI am PI, (private eye, My kids used to accuse me of investigating everything...I still do.) It is also my CB handle. We are from Massachusetts. I grew up camping in an Apache pu. DH grew up with Camps. So when the kids were young we rented camps for quite a few years. Then got into using or borrowing  a PU. The kids have grown and moved on. We now own a 2001 Utah...big enough so they can still join us. My DH and I really enjoy camping and meeting new people.

Kelly

fivegonefishing[font=" comic sans ms" ]Hoping the name is self-explanatory!  Couldn t come up with a clever username, so I used one I could remember!! [;)]
Started camping as a kid with my family ~ riding in the back of the pickup (under a topper!) with my 3 siblings!!  Always tent camped.
After the goose and I got married we sporadically attempted this camping thing....borrowing a tent, staying in Kamping Kabins and renting a PU before we bought ours last year.  We both love road trips and as the kids kept showing up (LOL) the hotels got a little TOO expensive.  Now we can road trip and afford it!  Looking forward to a 3-week trip to the southwest this year and a few get-togethers with our friends from PUT!
