I know a lot of discussion has ensued over the years with dogs being " sprayed"  by a skunk. The old remedy of tomato juice baths & the whole 9 yards.
What would the remedy be for the PU, or has your PU ever been " sprayed"  by a skunk? I can t even imagine the pain-staking process of airing out the camper, let alone the fabric treatment, etc.
Has this ever happened to anyone? What procedures did you take? What was your final outcome? [:o]

ShirleyT

ThunderRocknever happened to me, don t know of anyone this has happened to. What would I do if it did happen?

The solution is very simple. Instructions are below.

Please read all steps and disclaimer carefully before using this plan.

 1. pull out your walkie talkies, or purchase some

 2. find two or three good friends who knows how keep their mouths shut and follow orders.

 3. buy a gas mask or if you can take the pain put a clothespin on your nose.

 4. hook up the PUeeyy and take it to your nearest campground.

 5. find a PU exactly like your PUeeyyy

 6. have friend A, case the campsite and find when the owners leave to go shower, hike, etc

 7. have friend B (aka lookout) follow the owners of the exact PU as yours and
sure they don t come back unexpected. Have him radio you with coordinates of
of owners of other PU and distract owners if necessary until next steps can be
     completed.

 8. have friend A help you pop down the other PU, change plates and hook up the other to his vehicle and take it to your home and start on step 11 with friend D

 9. Park the PUeeyy in the campsite and set it up (make sure gas mask is
on or closepin is in place before starting this step.

 10. Radio friend B of rendevous point and pick him up.

 11. Go home, help friends A, B & C finish painting the PU and place old worn out tires on it making it look like it has been sitting for quite awhile.

 12. (Make sure friend C has a few twelve packs on ice before starting with plan) Sit and relax while tossing a few back while you and your accomplices revel in your talent to pull such an ingenious way to get rid of a PUeeyy

ThunderRockTomato juice doesn t work very well compared to...um, hu, Masengil Deuch (sp?).

This is what the local vet recommended (twice) to a neighbor who s dog didn t learn after the first time.

We were in a pet store and overheard an embarrased female store clerk trying to explain what it was and where to get it over the phone.

When she hung up, we asked " Skunk?"
 She said " Yup!"

I don t know if M.D. could damage the pop-up.  I do know it takes a whole case to clean a dog.  The hardest part is to have the nerve to buy a whole case.  What does anyone need a case of that for?

ThunderRockShirley that s a very creative solution!! LOL

If a skunk sprays your pop up canvas,I for one don t want to see how big that skunk is!! The worst I can imagine is the wheels getting sprayed.

 Austin,
You can use the cheap store brand douche, it works too!
When we were out last year my cousins dog got sprayed. They went to the nearest Meijers and bought a case of Douche.......the cashier gave them a strange look, so he pointed to his DW and told the cashier she smelled really skanky tonight. The cashier was not amused!
The case was enough to wash the 90lb dog and themselves.
We could have used another case to deoderize the camping area, that odor lingered around the sight all night, every time the breeze came we were all gasping for air!
The odor did manage to get in the camper, I lit a scented candle and that got rid of it in no time.

Just imagine your pop up smelling lemony, springtime fresh!!
