I need advice.  I am considering purchasing a 1996 viking PU for $2000.  It is in good shape.  We are moving up from a tent.  Will it fall apart or will it last a bit.

hillsparadiseWelcome aboard!! I m sure a lot of folks can answer your Q better than I, but from what I hear, Viking is a good value.
May also want to check out www.nada.com for a fair price-evaluation.

 Welcome to the board.

Good timing on your question.  We opened a new forum tonight in our Manufacturer area.

Viking RV will be moderating their own forum and answering questions, so you may have questions to ask them directly.

Gamecock Camper

hillsparadiseI was impressed with the Viking brand when shopping for an upgrade pop-up camper.  The price was good and the quality seemed to be equal to the Jayco I was replacing.  The big thing that I noticed with the Viking brand is that they offered plenty of features as standard items that would have been options on other campers.  I am a big fan of buying a used unit as there are many campers out there that are barely used and can be bought for 70% of what a new camper would cost.   You will need to do a through inspection, which includes checking out all the amenities (stove, plugs, refrigerator, potti, lights, etc...) and the lift system (crank up and crank down to assure that all is working properly), check all of the exterior (including underneath), and a through inspection of the tenting material for tears, holes or misuse.  These campers are fairly straight forward and simple, but if you are not comfortable in inspecting a used camper yourself... then get a dealer to inspect it for a fee.    You can find the right used camper if you are patient.  Good luck in your venture.
