I was reading my local newspaper and it was filled with stories about terrorism and how to prepare and how stores are having to restock certain items several times a day. As I read one story I had to crack up laughing and thought to myself " This guy makes sense" . Any way what he said was something like what is below.

" I grew up in the cold war era, we use to have drills where we would have to get under our desks at school. Putting plastic on your house is about as effective as getting under your desk when a nuclear bomb hits"

Just thought I would share this little piece of news with ya ll.

ShirleyTI remember those drills...and especially when Sister Mary Francis yelled at us: " NO TALKING DURING A NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST!"

ShirleyTThe thing is that hiding under a desk might save you from getting killed instantly and actually cause you to die a slow and painful death.  I never understood the drills either... especially when I was old enough to understand a little of what the drills were about.

ShirleyTWhat I remeber from the drills was how they changed from year to year. One year it was under the desks with your hands over the back of your neck. Next year was everyone lined up in the hallway sitting facing the lockers with a book or notebook over your head.
The one that didn t make any sense at the time; but now brings those creapy chills up my spine that I realize why they had us do; it was everyone had to write their name on a piece of paper and hold it folded up in a clenched fist.
I glad they didn t tell us and we didn t figure out it was to help identity bodies afterward.

ShirleyTIf we seal up all cracks and windows no air coming inside, you are going to have even a larger problem.  WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO BREATH?  When you use up all the air.
I know things are happening and we don t understand but,

I AGREE!! I can t figure out that one either, the breathing thing. I just wonder how many houseplants it takes to make enough oxygen for two people. Oh well, not going to worry about it really because there ain t much I can do about it.
