birolBirol, the Pet Super Centre at Kennedy and 401 in Scarborough has an adoption/rescue agency inside the front door.

Miss-Teri

birolTracy, I thought you were a " he"  for the longest time when I first started seeing your posts.  This sounds terrible for our sex, but it s because you are so knowlegable on the mechanics of TV s and PU s!   [:)]  Once I learned the truth, I was proud that one of us women-folk knew so much - cause I don t know nuttin  about how things work!!!  [:o]

birol

birolThanks for the dog rescue agencies. petfinder.com works for Canada too. And there is one Chihuahua available, inquiring [:)]

 Birol:

A lot of Nick-Neff-Cough members are active in the Camping Clubs section.  There s a lot of activity regarding event planning, deshnitzification and rabble rousing.  Come on by sometime and visit us.  We re not being isolationists, just that a lot of our posts won t make sense to others.

Good to see you and so many others active.  It s what makes the board dynamic.

Perhaps I am intimating that others don t post enough.  But maybe since so many are stuck indoors, they ll come and join in.

SurfcalYou are assuming that you are off the hook ! The implied intimating is not going to save you ![8D]

Actually, I was also hoping that there would a lot of people on the board today, after all it is a day off right ? Those of you  who are not shovelling snow get in here ! And the ones getting hit, please take it easy, and be very very careful. I fell twice last week while just walking to the car , a 2 meter walk, and it wasn t pleasant [:(]

 SurfcalTracy aka tlhdoc,

I never really gave your gender much thought either, but you are very knowledgable about the mechanics of pop-ups.  Where did you get all that experience?  Were your parents, siblings or friends mechanically inclined?  I know that I inherited woodworking and handyman skills from my grandfather and father while I picked up on mechanical skills from my uncle and brothers.  I also have too much experience in the school of hard knocks.  I now know more about what not to do that what to do when fixing things due to my schooling.

 Birol,

Let me suggest that you decide which breed you want and then contact a rescue organization for that breed.  You can probably find information about the breeds and rescue groups at the Canadian Kennel Club s website:  www.dogs-in-canada.com.

Rescue groups often have dogs available for a very small fee.  Please do not get a dog from a pet shop.

Our current Dalmatian is a rescued dog.  Our veterinarian contacted us when this dog needed a new home.  You may want to contact the local vet offices and let them know what you are looking for.

Miss-Teri and Stopher I have had a PU for 7 seasons, and I don t like to pay the mechanic any more than I have too.  I think I may be mechanically incline, but no one in my family is.  If I see something done I can usually do it myself after that.  I can read how to do something and do it that way, but see it done is better for me.  Thanks for the complements.

SurfcalI am in touch with a chuvava (hehehhe) rescu group in Ottawa, they have two we like. I applied to get the younger one, we will see if they think we are a suitable family.

How much does it cost to keep a chuvava happy/healthy ? DOn t tell me I can t afford it if I have to ask [;)]

SurfcalSorry tlhdoc.. But if you want to know the reason you name gets confused I will let you know.. Tabbo area to get in to I know, Please do not take this statement as sexist.. But I would have to say it has to do with the last part of your name... The " doc"  I think at a sub-concious leval, people will always place a " doc (or doctor) with a male.. Same thing with a nurse it is always going to be looked upon as a female.. I would put $$ on it that even if people don t place your name with the medical field, the name just kinda gives off that aura...  [:@] Now don t start flaming me..

Firefyter-Emt

SurfcalWoops sorry.. I can t let the wife take the blame for that one... That was me! [:)] My sweetheart left herself logged in again...

Miss-Teri

birolBirol, Don t try just getting the younger one - if you re gonna take it camping get whichever one is quieter for your peace of mind!  [;)]  We got lucky that ours will sit quietly in her crate as long as there is a radio or white noise on in the background.
I ve worked (no money, so actually volunteered) for a humane society for over eight years.  I rescue from animal shelters and just at the shelters I personally rescue from, I get hundreds of tiny dogs every year.  Last week I rescued two half Chihuahua puppies (about 8 weeks old) from a shelter, so there are many, many great dogs in need of rescue and almost half of what I rescue are purebreds (lots of Chihuahuas, Pomeranians, Dachshunds, Lhasas, and Shih Tzus).  Most are young, in great health, and have no behavioral " issues" .
Oh, did I mention I got my Collie (with registration papers) at 5 months old, and my Chihuahua from a shelter, too?  [;)]
What the rescue will be looking for is an indoor home, a fenced-in yard, someone who will match the needs of the particular dog, and previous history with animals (ie. Did you keep them until they died of old age, etc.).  I would have no problem adopting something out to a family that will take it on at least a couple of camping trips a year as the dogs love pop-ups almost as much as we do!  [:D]

birol

SurfcalI was thinking the dog would be on a leash or ona leash inside the PU when it is not out.  Are they that newvous which make them noisy ? I remember reading somewhere that small dogs are the most noisy variety, is that correct ?

Basically we were thinking that whereever we go, camping, trips, it would come with us being so small. I am sure a small crate for it will disappear in the back of the windstar.

Reason we wanted the small one was or it not to have issues yet, and being still trainable. We will see if they call today.
