It was a very nice weekend. Thanks Jaqui for organizing the campout. You did a Yeoman's job, running the weekend, chaseing after your little one, handling the trailer duties.

It was nice getting to know some new folks, and finding a new campground. Saturday night, Holly and I took the girls and stood in line for the haunted hay ride. Little did we know that this would take more than 2 hours. By the time we got back to the campsite, it was getting pretty late. I wish we could have had some time to hang out by the fire with the rest of the gang.

All in all, two thumbs up!

I'd wanted to post earlier, conveying our thanks for a terrific time in Temecula, but the system wouldn't allow me to post as a guest. Today when I accessed the site to check if things had changed I was allowed to register free of charge. It could be a mistake - I will let PUT know. In the meantime I might not be around here too long. Again, thanks to everyone for their efforts to make the rally such a great time. The food was delicious, the kids loved the activities. Thanks in particular to Jaqui who was braving her first solo camping trip.

Well everyone...

It's been a month since the rally and I have finally posted the photos from the Trick-or-Treat rally.  I didn't get a chance to take as many photos as I would have liked, but I did try to at least get a shot of everyone's camp site.

There are a couple of cute ones of the kids all dressed up, so you might want to take a quick look.

Randy,

Thanks for the pictures.  Wish we could have been there.  Looks like it was a lot of fun.  So, are we making plans for next year???  Yet???

It was so hot that weekend that I had my hands full trying to deal with little Griffy, so unfortunately, we forgot to take pictures! Thanks for posting yours Randy! I really like the ones of that little kid with the green hat.  What a cutey (even if it does look like he's about to go digging for "treasure" in one of them!) ;)

TOS, If we haven't started planning Halloween 2004, we should! The cg may only accept reservations so many months in advance, but I'll find out and post. Do we like the Oaks or Chardonnay Mesa? My .02: Chardonnay Mesa has less cars ripping through at 35 miles an hour (!) for the little ones and the grassy area is a nice place to gather. We maxed outon sites this year and could have filled a couple more. How many should we reserve if possible this far in advance?

OC Campers

The Halloween rally was so much fun.  I think another one would be great.  We reserved 17 sites this rally, would 25 be too many?   I like Chardonnay a litle better because of the grassy areas but it was sure nice having all the shade down in the oaks.  I was surprised how little dirt was drug into the camper considering the sites were mostly dirt.

I also think the weekend we chose for this past rally was perfect too.  The kids were so excited about Halloween that the rally let them celebrate the day a little early but not too early.

Halloween falls on a Sunday next year and so my guess is that VLR will have its Halloween Festival the last 3 weekends in October, the 16th & 17th, the 23rd & 24th, and the 30th & 31st.  I'd be up for either of the first 2 weekends.  As for which sites, I'd suggest 20-28 and 55-61 (that's 25 sites) in the Chardonnay Mesa area.

I called VLR and they only accept reservations up to 6 months in advance, so we'll have to call back in April to book these, but if we can get a head count of  those who think they'd like to attend, it'll give us a better idea of how many sites to reserve when April rolls around. :)

Randy,Thanks for posting the pictures.  My dh didn't bring a camera so this was my first preview of the trip.

We would definitely be interested in a return trip next October and I know Darksiders would be on board too.  Mid-October sounds great.

Deirdre, Jim says "you're welcome!"  He was more than happy to be hospitable.  The kids enjoyed hanging out too.

Any word on Yucaipa?  Did the fires get close to the campground?

My son keeps bringing up the Halloween Rally, he had such a good time. He he, with the trend our family might actually make it for 2 nights next time!
