Mark your calendars for the " Trick-or-Treat in Temecula"  Rally, that will be held Friday, October 17th through Sunday, October 19th, 2003, at Vail Lake Resort, in Temecula, California! [:D]

VLR apparently goes all-out for it s Halloween festival.  Activities from last year included:[ul]

 [/ul]

This already looks like it s going to be a blast!!  The weekend of the 17th-19th was the only weekend left where we could get sites together, so out of fear that those would be gone if we didn t act, I reserved 21 sites.  Dave has asked that I refrain from being the wagonmaster for this rally, but I will be at VLR this weekend and would be happy to pick up the paperwork for whomever would like to experience the joys and satisfaction of being a rally wagonmaster.  [;)]

The sites that we have are 84-90 and 98-111.  All sites are in the Oaks section.  The cg map below shows the sites I have reserved for us (shaded in green).

PUT s forum software does it when you upload an image into the post.

griffsmomVLR called and left a message on my answering machine: sites 88-90 are NOT available, I repeat, are NOT available. The lady I spoke with gave me incorrect info when I reserved the sites.

Just to be sure, we have sites 84-87 and 99-111, for a total of 18 sites.

And after I went to all that trouble to figure out how to color the map and post it here![>:][: (][:@]

griffsmomLori, thanks for taking the " bull by the horns"  on this one.    So what needs to be done to make this a go?   I don t mind wagonmastering the resevations but I don t think I can do all the other stuff.    Is there anyone out there that could handle the setup of the activities/potluck etc???

I ll be potluck diva.  How does a " do the DO"  potluck sound?  We should all have had enough time to practice by then. [;)][:D]

What are the campsites going for this time? Have to check but think we are likely, that is, if the " scary"  stuff doesn t extend into the actual campsites. My 6 year old sometimes spooks easily.

 Lori,

Would that potluck then be considered " dew-the dew"  or " dough-the-dough"  or " dew-the-dough"  or " dough-the-dew" ?[&:] My head is spinning[;)]

 Just wondering[:)]

OK, I was going to ask the same question.  Then I looked and discovered that when I set up this forum I forgot to disable the ability to post images.

As we have disabled it on all other forums (except Mr. Fix It) my first inclination was to disable it here.  But, after reflection and seeing how well griffsmom used the ability, here is what I m going to do.

We will use this forum as a test of expanded image posting.  I have restricted the ability to post an image to your moderators. I ask that moderators use the ability sparingly, and only when necessary.  Embedded images can be negative in several ways:

 [ul]

  • They slow down loading for those members who use dial up connections
  • They increase the amount of server space necessary for the board
  • They increase the monthly bandwidth we use.
  • [/ul]

But, just as there are negatives there are positives.  The posting of this campground map is a great example.

So, lets see how it works out.

moderator1Wow! [:o] I had no idea that only moderators could attach an image.  Ohhh, the power![;)]

But seriously, the one time I tried to upload an image, it wouldn t appear until I clicked on the " embed picture in post"  option on the post reply window, whichis what I think attaches the image to the post.  Weird....

In any event, I will most definitely use it sparingly.  The other comment I was going to make    :::puting on moderator hat:::   is that the cute little images that C wooder turned us onto also use quite a bit of server bandwidth as well as loading time for dial-uppers (aka Jacqui[;)])  We should use those sparingly too.

Boy do I hate to be the " wet"  blanket in this one.  Those little happy hands are so cute but Lori is right.  My 5 year old computer and my " dial up"  service makes a slow process.  It is a good thinkg I will never have gray hair>[:D][8D][;)]

Ok so this baby is all mine.  Lori, can i collect all the info from you at our next Vail Lake rally (june 6-8).  Then I will have all the particulars for everyone.

Lori has placed a map up top for us to see the campsites.   If you have a preference just email me or place a post here and I will make a note of it.  I will try to get the prices when I see Lori next.

griffsmomNow is there someone out there who could handle activities if we want any.  It sounds like the park has a lot of planned things to do.
