Well.. I just had my LASIK procedure done on both eyes this morning...  Boy, what a difference!!!!

My vision was pretty bad, here are the specs:  Good Eye: 20/400, Bad Eye: CSF@10  (This stands for " Can See Fingers at 10 feet)

I had the procedure this morning and my vision is slightly blurry, but I can already read things on the TV and on the Computer...  Its going to be a day or so before it fully hits me just how much of a difference this is making..

Today is my Son s 14th birthday and he has been wanting to go to " Hooter s"  Restraunt for the Wings of course...  I should be able to help him read the menu!!!

Okay.. I m off to look around the house and see what else I can see!

LoadedCameraWish I could but they cannot be sure it will work for me. My vision problems make wearing contacts nearly impossible so even with lasiks I would have to wear glassed. Oh well maybe some day I will be able to ditch em.

 LoadedCameraLoadedCamera,
Wow! that s Great! What Timing too. Just in time for Hooters! Sure wouldn t want to miss anything there. Hope all turns out well with it.
Unfortunately, I too am like " luvourjayco" . They said Lassik would not work on me because of the way my eye s are shaped? Oh well...." Research"

LoadedCameraI had horrible astigmatism in both of my eyes.  But fortunatly, my eyes were bad, but consistantly shaped.  When they did the OrbScan, it was really neat stuff.  The printout was almost like a topology map!  It had alot of colors and was pretty kewl.

Kat watched it thru the viewing window this morning and said " it was interesting, but not for her" ..

I hope for all those that want it, they determine a way to make it happen.  My surgeon had 2 different lasers that he had a choice from.  Each one performed a different type of procedure and offered different types of repairs.

 Maybe there is hope soon...

I would recommend it to anyone with eye problems...

LoadedCameraPersonally, you couldn t pay me enough to have somebody doing something to my eyes that could lead to blindness. It has happened, and more often than is reported. I have had 3 surgeries on my eyes for weak muscles. The first when I was an infant, so I was told, and the last was in  66. I don t remember when the second one was. My eyes wouldn t track properly. The last one finally got everything working properly. In 1977 I was in a nasty car accident. Flipped the car end over end. Spent more than a week in the ICU. Major head injuries, (that would explain many things, LOL).  I had wiped out every nerve except the optic nerve behind my left eye. I was unable to open or move my left eye. After being told that with the damage that had been done, that was the way I was going to be. After aprox. 9 months, I started to get feeling back in my forehead and the eye started to move again. Well, I can say that today you wouldn t know that anything had happened.  Except my eyes don t track again.  When I look at anything, it is either the right or left eye that is focused on the object, but not both.

I hope it all turns out great for you.  Keep us posted as to your progress.

LoadedCameraI worked for over 5 years for Optomitrists/Opthomologists just as the Lasik proceedure was coming into " vogue" . We had a few patients that were plagued with swelling- so much so that their prescription changed 3 to 4 times a day, significantly enough to have to have 3 or 4 pairs of glasses.

The proceedure has really evolved and more and more people choose it. Personally, I wouldn t, even though my vision isn t very good at all. I m just not a " medical proceedure"  type of person (ie CHICKEN).

For anyone considering it, make sure you check out the doctor s credentials and that you ve been given all the proper screening and information.

It s great to hear it worked out well for you. Keep us posted on your progress!

LoadedCameraIf we had the money I would have it done.  It is just too expensive and our insurance will not pay for it.[&:]

 LoadedCameraCongrats on getting better vision!

LoadedCameraI am SOOOOO Jealous.  I have been wanting to do this for a long time.  As it stands now, if I am watching TV without glasses or contacts, it s more like " TV???  What TV???"

I don t know why I haven t gotten it done yet.  I mean, if something was wrong with my wrist, I d get that fixed (There was and I did).  I guess it s the $ factor.  Silly that insurance won t cover it.  The ins. pays for eye exams and a portion of glasses every year.  When it all adds up over many years, the cost of Lasik surgery comes close to the same amount the ins.  pays to keep me in glasses/contacts.

LoadedCamera[:)]I had my lasik surgery on friday!!!! I am so glad I did not back out.  My children are growing so fast & I wanted to be free tom do anything with them.  When we would go to the beach, I would have to either keep my glasses on to see them or try my best to make out the blurry visions.

I put the surgery off before because I am afraid of having my eyes touched.  I could not put contacts in nor take them out so they were not an option.  After alot of thought, research, & prayer, I told myself that I could stand the surgery.  The entire staff & doctors were excellent!!!

Yesterday, my vision was 20/400 in my left eye and 20/200 in my right.  Today I am blessed to have 20/20 in my right & 20/25 in my left.  The doctor said that if my results were this good the day after, they will improve in the next 2 weeks.

I recommend this miracle surgery to anyone considering it.

JonesFamilyJaycoI want to do it.  I am just leary, but I have been told that I am ideal canidate:  Straight forward medium nearsittedness (-2.5 and -3).  However, the really good places in Phoenix want $1700/eye.  My eye doctor doesn t recommend the discount ($800/eye) places.

LoadedCameraMy son, a diabetic since 17 months, has had the operation sucessfully on both eyes.  My eyes are much worse then his but would require a different kind of operation.  Now they have to develop and test it so I can see with my lft eye

LoadedCamera

 JonesFamilyJaycoYou sound exactly like me....

On Friday Morning at 8am: My right eye was 20/400 and my left eye was " Can See Fingers @ 10 feet"  (Actual Diagnosis)

On Saturday Morning at 9am:  My right eye was 20/20 and my left eye was 20/25.  It will improved as the eye heals over the next week.

I am so excited to be seeing with no contacts or glasses!!!

 Congrats on your LASIK also!!!!

LoadedCameraI would LOVE to have this done, even if it s just to lower my contact lense perscription ( left eye - 7.5 and right eye - 6.5)  I d love to be able to take our my contacts and put on glasses to watch TV.  As it is now I have to keep them in until right before bed.  This makes it really hard camping because I can t take them out all night.  If a kid has to go to the bathroom, I have no chance of getting there without crashing into someone elses pop-up!!  [&:]  DH has placed himself stratigicly on the far side of the bed so it s such a hassel, that I bring them!![:)]  Oh well, maybe someday.  I figure the longer I wait, the more advanced they are getting at performing the surgery, which will reflact in the pricing.

LoadedCameraWhy not take them out and let Dad take the kids to the bathroom.[;)][:D]
