It has been a while since I have posted here as my Mom has been diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer.  She was in the hospital for two weeks and about a half hour after I brought her home here at my house the day before Easter she went into V-Tac and her heart stopped twice.  The paramedics revived her finally and she is now in ICU on a vent.  Her prognosis about her heart is getting better and she did not suffer any brain damage from her " heart event"  however that doesn t change the fact that she has terminal cancer.  I have cried more than I can ever imagined I could.  She has always been my best friend and cheerleader when I myself suffered from cancer and went through many things in my adult life. Now I want to be there for her in every way possible to give back to her what she has unselfishly given to me all her life. She was always delighted when I read her postings from here about answered prayer and miracles along with funny stories and just plain wonderful people.  She said she understood why it was so important to me to camp with my friends and even travel to Tennessee last year to meet in person so many that I only met through this forum through their written thoughts and experiences. I know that many of my dear friends here have been through these dark days with their loved ones and I am asking for your prayers for her to get stronger so that she can come home and spend her time with the family for as long as she is able.  Thanks and Hugs, Linda

CamperJonesOh, Linda, I m so sorry. I know that words on a screen can seem so hollow, but you have my prayers. May your mother regain her strength, and may your remaining time together be more meaningful than all of the wonderful years gone by.

CamperJonesUnfortunately, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and strokes all run in my family.  My father has a lung disease and my grandfather died from lung cancer a few years ago, so I know where you are coming from.

The most important thing to do now is to spend a lot of time with your mother.  Reminice about the past, laugh about the future, and be the rock SHE can lean on!  I found that laughter is great medicine, and while everyone else was somber and coddling towards my grandpa, I d talk about funny moments in my childhood and often tell him how he was going to beat this and be home again in time to rile me some more.  I remember his laughter at my jokes.  Tho  he had lost the ability to speak, he still could laugh and his eyes told me words he could not say.

Don t take a moment for granted.  Take time off work if you must.  Stay with you mother, eat, sit, drink, chat, ANYTHING to make her realize that life WILL go on and she WILL beat this!  As a cancer survivor yourself, you should be quiet the insperation.

CamperJonesWe ll keep you and your family in our prayers, with plenty of hope that your mother will be strong enough to be with you and you family for as long as possible.  You and your mother are very lucky to have each other and to have such a special relationship.

CamperJonesLinda, We ll be praying for your Mom, you and your family.  You are really blessed to have such a wonderful relationship with your Mom and you both recognize how important you are to each other.  Hang in there.

CamperJonesI find it amazing how this small PU community can be there for each other in our happiest times as well as our unhappiest.  I believe Barbra Strisand got it right when she sang, " People who need people, are the luckiest people in the world."   You are so fortunate to have a mom who is also your best friend and cheerleader.  I pray that you will both be given strength, comfort and a peace that passes all understanding.

CamperJonesOur prayers are with you. My parents are aging and it is scary for us to see them getting older and frail. Take time---smell the flowers with her, remember, share memories, a touch , a hug. The little things mean a lot.  Hope all goes well. PI
