Anybody have a Coleman Grill/Stove? It s the two burner one with grill on one side and a single burner on the other. Can get an optional griddle to cover the grill.

I was thinking about getting one of these to replace my dumpy portable barbeque grill. It would also allow me to cook a side dish.

If anyone has this product, your thoughts are appreciated!

SactoCampersWe have had one of these for 2 years now and it works Great! We got it on sale at Target and I do recommend it. The grill cooks fast and evenly, cleans up easily too. We do not even carry our outside stove with us, using this instead.

SactoCampersSac, I looked at them last fall. You can get parts to make it all griddle/grill or all stove also.
Since my old gas Coleman and sunbeam grill are still running good and I m not about to kick out $200 to replace them I passed. But they are a nice unit, especially with the extra inserts to allow changing it to what you need.

Are you sure we re talking about the same thing? The one I m talking about is ~$80:

Wait, never mind. You said the cost to replace yours was $200 and you were not referring to the Grill Stove.

SactoCampersNo, Sac either we re talking about two different grills or the price has dropped quite a bit. The Coleman grill I was thinking of was around $140 and the grill/griddle/burner inserts ran about $35 each. You needed two inserts so you could either have two burners or 1/2 & 1/2 or all grill.

Now I just use the Coleman gas stove for the burners, with a griddle/griddle plate for those big breakfasts and the SUnbeam grill from Wally World for barbequing. There s also a Smokey Joe & a bag of charcoal somewhere out in the garage.

We are. I think you re talking about the Coleman Road Trip. I m talking about the Coleman Grill Stove. Your system of using the big stove (converted to griddle) and portable Sunbeam grill is what I m trying to avoid. The link in my above post is a picture of what I m considering buying. Since we aren t big cooks when we camp, I just wanted something small that would allow me to grill some chicken while making a side dish. There s a small optional griddle insert that can be used over the grill. Click on the link in my previous post and let me know if you re familiar with it.

I briefly consdidered the Road Trip grill but decided I didn t want something that big. I think....[;)]

You re on the right track, but I was thinking Noodle Roni...takes less time! [;)]

SactoCampersYou don t have to hit me up side the head more than three or four times before I get what your talking about.[:D]
Those are nice little grill stove combinations and several of the extended camping family use them. Only complaint was the grill side was hard to clean.  But that was from just one of the 3-4 that uses one.

SactoCampersI have the grill that you are asking about. We thought it would be more usefull then it turned out to be. The biggest disapointment was the grill, I didn t care for the solid, ridged surface (similar to the Thermos Grill to Go).  I think that you d be better served by going with a decent portable gas grill, and a two burner stove, and a griddle.

I eventually purchased the Road Trip Grill. It is a pretty big unit, but we purchased the extra stove grates, and an extra griddle and grill, so we have the flexibility of using both sides to grill, griddle, use as a 2 burner stove, or any combination. We also bought the carry bag, so we don t have to worry too much about packing it when it is not cleaned, so we can clean it at home. It is kind of a pain to clean, which is my only criticism of the unit. It has 2 ea. 10,000 BTU burners, so it has pretty good cooking power.

Coleman has now released a mini version of the Road Trip Grill. It is a bit smaller, is only a grill, and has a 6,000 BTU burner. It does come with it s own stand, and sells for about $64.

 Good luck!

 SactoCampersSacto,

We have the coleman Grill/Stove and we use it almost every trip.  The grill is large enough to cook at least 6 hamburgers at a time and it usually out grill the traditional portable gas grills.

The only problem we have found is if use both the grill and stove at the same time, the stove seems to get most of the gas.  I would recommend it.

Hey thanks Kevin. While I ve got you here, what are your arrival and departure dates for the Gold Rush Rally?

copcarguy

SactoCampersHello all!  We have this stove and LOVE IT!!  We line the grille side with aluminum foil and also the little drip cup thingy and clean-ups are a snap!  The only time it was hard to clean was at the COTOC Rally a couple weeks ago...  I BBQ d chicken breasts for like five families and the BBQ sauce was petrified onto the grille.  We had to soak it at home for 2 days to get the crud off.  Other than that time we love it!  [&:]GO BUY ONE!![&:]

PS - we got ours at WalMart on sale for $59.97

SactoCampersWe have one too and love it, I never thought about lining it with foil to help with clean-up so I ll try that next time.  I like having the versality of being able to use it as a grill/stove and not just a stove.  We ve had ours a little over a year and use it every trip.
