Take a look here at [link=http://www.farwestresorts.com/]->Far West Resorts<-.[/link]  It s a nice, nearby (for us) place that we ve been to a few times.  $23 for W&E.  That becomes only $18 for groups of more than 6 rigs!

The smallest area,  [link=http://www.farwestresorts.com/alder.htm]->Alder<-[/link], would be perfect for a rally because (a) it s RIGHT NEXT TO the bathroom, (b) with only 9 sites, we could probably fill it and have the entire area to ourselves, and (c) the common area in the center is the perfect place in which to hold our potlucks.  Far West is also the overall quietest campgrounds we ve ever been to, amen.

Re. little kids, it s very safe, and they ll love the petting zoo.

Santa Paula is on Hwy 126.  I m guessing most of you Scampers would take the 5 up and then West on the 26.  As to when, we can field out dates, see if there s enough interest, etc.  (Oh, it gets HOT in there during summer, so autumn might be a better time.)  Your thoughts?

SimiRich

 CottonwooderHi Patricia!

We ve never heard of this campsite before but we re up for it depending on the weekend. It s a quick drive for us. Are you thinking after Sept. to avoid the heat?

Throw out some weekends & lets get some feedback.

The first couple of weekends in Oct. are open for us or is this too close to Haloween in Temecula?

Cottonwooder

SimiRichHiya Simi!  At this very moment I m trying to schedule all the various stages of two big school fundraisers that I m in charge of.  All the activity occurs from the beginning of September through the end of October -- coincidentally, the two months that Georgeanne posted in another thread that she and GSM will be away -- so I m looking at November.

It ll probably have to be awhile from now for us to book an entire section.  I ll check with Far West.  Besides, that ll give us Scampers 3 consecutive months: Temecula in October, this one in November, and Cachuma in December.  (If Casitas is still on for August and we can meet up in September, that ll be 5 consecutive months!  Darn good for a brand new group!!!)

Thanksgiving is on the 27th.  How about the weekends of the 14th or 21st?

SimiRich

CottonwooderNovember 14th & 21st are good for us. Best to plan ahead otherwise something else gets in the way.[&:]

How about the 14th leaving 1 weekend between Thanksgiving. Don t want those turkey chefs getting stressed out.[:D]

Dee4j

Cottonwooderhey why not?  anything late sept on will work.  Kara will be scheduled to have surgery late Aug Early Sept for an epigastric hernia so she will be out of commission for at least 2 weeks... how do they expect me to keep my 4 yr old " minime"  inactive for 2 weeks??? I might extend the vail lake  longer since we re not camping in Aug now, and until I have a surgery date I can t book anything else.

CottonwooderWe re checking our calendar. We ve been to this campground before and like it. Alder is a good choice.

griffsmom

CottonwooderThis sounds great!  I ll check with Dave and make sure his calendar is okay with it.  I d prefer the weekend of Nov. 14th over the 21st.  We could do a Thanksgiving themed potluck!  Maybe Dave would even deep fry a turkey! [:D]

So where are we going in September? [;)]

oldmoose

CottonwooderMy social director says that the weekend of November 14-16 works for us. Count us in.[:)][:)]

griffsmom

CottonwooderDave s got a trial scheduled for the 17th, but it may settle between now and then.  Can I say we re a definite maybe?

oldmoose

CottonwooderYou mean he doesn t want to work on the case between blender batches or checking the DO?[;)]

Cottonwooder

CottonwooderBummer. [:(]   Alder is not only booked for the weekend of Nov 14th, but for all the other handful of weekends I enquired about.  We re looking at January now, so when the lady has time to look through her calendar and give me weekends that Alder is free, she ll call me back.

Plan 2:  Cedar is available for Nov 14th.  Cedar is absolutely fine, but we wouldn t have that wonderful inner circular area of Alder in which to hold our group activities.  If we go for Cedar, we ll try to snag sites 7 & 8 in order to have that bigger area between them for group activities.

Plan 3:  Only one site in Alder is taken during Christmas/New Year, so if no Northerners are making the long drive down, we could move our Cachuma rally (where you can t reserve sites) to Alder (where you can).

 Will keep you posted.

We do have two northern families coming down.  But we don t have a January Rally Planned yet.  Late in January with give 4 weeks between Cachuma and Santa Paula.

Patricia, it seems to work best to go ahead set a date that is good for you (the wagonmaster) and take it from there.  It always works out. [:D]  Please don t wait for us to commit at this time.  We have very few free weekends left this year and next year is already starting to fill up.  If we are able we attend then [:D]; if not then [:(].

Cottonwooder

CottonwooderLooks like Cedar it is for Nov 14th.  If you all like the place, we can arrange to take over all of Alder in spring.  You ll see for yourself what I mean about how perfect Alder s layout is for us.

I think the cancellation policy is 7 or 8 days beforehand.  (Lori, Dave would know better by then, yes?)  I could book 6 sites now at the $18 rate, and if we don t fill them, release the extra and we just pay $23 instead.  Not bad.
