Hi everyone.  We will be visiting Niagara Falls August 15th.  What should we not miss.  We only have the one day so I want to do it right.

 The Falls!

tlhdocNo trip to the Falls is complete without a ride on the Maid of the Mist (although living 30 minutes away I have never been myself). The Cave of the winds is a beautiful scenic walk behind the falls (see Marilyn Monroe in " Niagara" ). Then there is the new Casino in the old Convention Center. Lots more to do on the Canadian side, like Casino Niagara, Clifton Hill and its shops and museums, and the towers and their resturants and views. For a single day, however, the splendor of thr Falls itself and the state park at the brink, along with the " Cave"  or " Maid"  should be enough. Enjoy!

tlhdocI m with all the others. The falls first then Journey Behind the Falls followed by the Maid of the Mist. Of course all these are on the Canadian side. If you have time left the Floral Clock is beautiful and so is the Butterfly Conservatory. Clifton Hill is very touristy so I wouldn t make that a priority. Marineland is another spot for the tourists. The sheer wonder of the falls and beauty of the parks surrounding it will be more then enough for a single day!
For a link to the Niagara Falls website check out my webpage. All the links are there for you.

tlhdocWe just visited Niagara for the first time this past season. Maid of the Mist boat trip is a must. I was more impressed with the Canadian side than I was with the USA side. The evenning lightshow and fire works is better from the Canadian side, plus they usually have a band playing. I can not imagine trying to do this in a day, we were there for a week.
 Good luck,
 Cheryl

 Cheryltlhdoc,

We did like the Casio on the Canadian side. More playing time for the US dollar. There is a better view of the falls also. Night time it is all lit up with color lights. There is an  aquarium there also. I believe it is on the US side. Oh, there Fort Niagara a short ride away.

tlhdocWe went last Labor Day weekend......what a great time. You definetly have to do the Maid of Mist boat trip and most definitlly you have to go on the Canadian side. The USA side from our hotel was discussting. The grass is brown...Also go under the falls.....it is hillarious. There is reasons why they give you plastic raincoats. I forgot the name of the street but it has rides and all fun things for children. You can also go up this tower and see the city......anything you do will be fun.

tlhdocFoxy the street you are refering to is called Clifton Hill and the tower is called the Skylon Tower. The tower is great but is not for anyone afraid of heights I can t do it myself did it once but won t go back, felt like my stomach dropped on the way up never mind down [: (] many go and enjoy it thoroughly though.

tlhdocThe Canadian side has a park tour that covers most of the attractions for one price with a shuttle bus to get you to them all.

tlhdoc

tlhdocThanks for all of the information.[:)]

It looks like the Maid of the Mist and the behind the falls tour are must dos.  Is everything spread out or are the attractions with in walking distance?  I looked at the shuttle but tour and we may go that way.   Is it better to drive across the boarder or walk over?  Any more information to help me out?

luvourjayco

tlhdocIts one heck of a walk from the falls to all the attractions. They are all located along the same  strip  but are really spread out. As far as crossing the border personally I d drive and park at the park and ride station and hop on the people mover. If you hit my website you can prepay your passes for the people mover and get a discount at the same time [:)]. The link is on my favourites page.  If you were to walk over and then to all the attractions and back again you d be doing at least 10 miles by days end. Less stressful to hop on the people mover and go from station to station. The ticket for that includes admission to any of the attractions run by the Niagara Parks Commision (Maid of the Mist is not one of them [>:] ).
 Enjoy!

The cable car is still there, but I am not a fan of heights, so I think we will skip that one.[:)]

luvourjayco thanks for the tip about walking, the tickets sound great.
