September rally?

I don't recall any rally being scheduled for September.  Dave and I are thinking of going to Lake Casitas, since we haven't been there since the very first PUT rally in 2002.  Of the separate cgs within the park, four have hook-ups:

B ("Bass")--w/e
E ("Egret")--w/e
F ("Fox")--w/e/some sewer, and
I ("Indian") w/e.

Dave and I have stayed in F and the rally two years ago was in B.  B has the better shade, especially considering how hot Casitas can get in September.

There is a group camp area with hook ups.  We would need a minimum of 10 campers to constitute a "group."  The group site pays a non-refundable reservation fee of either $100.00 or $65.00 (the Web site is inconsistent in its fee prices) and then the site fees are $16.00/night per vehicle.  (I don't know if tow vehicles and campers are conted as one "vehicle.")  If we reserve individual sites and not the group camping area, there is a non-refundable reservation fee of $6.50 per reservation, per site (i.e., each person would have to pay a non-refundable $6.50 reservation fee, even if we made all of our reservations at the same time through one person), and then basic hook up site fees are $24.00/night.

We are looking at the weekend of Sept 17-19th.  The water park would be open on the weekend.  Anyone interested in coming along?

We'll be at McGrath with my SIL's Jody Circle group.

It sounds like fun, but we have a GS trip planned that weekend. Any other weekend in September would be great. If you happen to change weekends, count us in.

sounds like a plan to me.  I know its the start of soccer season so you might not want to do group unless you start getting more yeses.  Dan didn't like the bathrooms in "B"-no sinks to at least rinse your hands. I don't care. I do like having sewer so I don't have deal with a gray water tank & its easier to dump the potty. But its not a neccessity. (I'm just starting to get real spoiled!)I have a good friend from HS (newbury park) that has an RV and would probably be interested.  also the week of the 24th would work

I think you're right, Dee, about doing this on an individual basis, rather than the group.  $100 non-refundable reservation fee is pretty steep!   We can make it a "non-rally" where anyone who wants to go can just call and make their own reservations.

We've stayed in F which does have "deluxe" sites with sewer.  I can't remember if the bathrooms had sinks or not.  It seems to me that they did.  The nice thing about B is that there is much more shade than in F and there's that wonderful grassy area where the kids can play and we can have our potlucks.  Plus, it's cheaper. :D

Just out of curiousity, would the weekend of Sept. 10-12 work better for more people?  We haven't made our reservations yet, so we can be flexible on the dates and if that would allow more people to join us, that would be cool.

That wouldn't work for us. that is the end of the first week of school, and I have Kevin's b-day party planned for that weekend. The date you have chosen originally or the 24th works out for us. I did like the grass area in B as I said it doesn't really matter. making our own reservations will be fine. where we stay may depend on which area has the most sites and we could be together.

OC Campers

We have the kids signed up for soccer, so I don't know when it starts. September for us may not work. Sorry. I hate to miss a rally of any kind:(

I think soccer starts Aug/early Sept. Kara will probably be playing ,but I'm one of those bad moms that says you sign up.. you play and be committed ....

I agreee with you Deidre but at the rate I am  going the kids may miss 5-6 weeks of soccer.  Why did I pay the $150 to sign them up. :eyecrazy:   Don't get me wrong, I would much prefer sitting under the shade trees sipping a margarita then to be baking in the sun and chasing a 3 year old around the soccer field:(
It is so amazing what us parents do for our kids.:)

This past spring, I had signed Griffin up for a 3/4 y/o soccer league, and even though my kid was supposed to be on the field, I still ended chasing him around trying to keep him ON the field!!!! Seriously, in between every single play, he would run over to the sideline where Dave and I were and want to sit with us. So I'd have to get up and lead him (okay, drag him!) back over to where the rest of his teammates were. And I'm not kidding about EVERY, SINGLE PLAY--UGH!!!!!!! :banghead:

Needless to say, we're taking a little break from soccer (and all organized sports) until Griffy's a bit older. Besides, judging by the way he played soccer, full-contact football may be more his style! :eyecrazy:

No kidding. I played soccer for about 15 years and finally gave it up when kevin was about 2. too much time wrapping legs in order to play and 2 days of pain after. so now the kids play all the sports..isn't that one of the reasons we have them   to play the sports we're too dang old to play :eyecrazy:

I'll have to stick to 12 ounce curls by the campfire  :!

It would be a shame if we weren't able to drive the 8 miles to attend this rally!  Let us know the final decision on the dates so we can make a plan! :D

well I certainly hope you can...even if camping dates don't work a day trip would.  I say Lori pick a date, we'll all do individual reservations. there's 3 of us for sure & my friend that lives in NP would probably go. so hey its a rally :tent:

I agree... Lori, pick a date!  You know the saying... Set the date; they will come! :D

Okay, we'll be at Lake Casitas the weekend of September 17 through the 19th. We are staying the B (Bass) loop and have site number 44, which as I recall, was well shaded--a good thing for Casitas in September.  Bass loop has water and electric hoook ups and is within walking distance of the water park.  I have attached a picture of the B loop.

If you'd like to join us, call Lake Casitas at (805) 649-1122 and make your reservation.  It will cost you $54.50 for the two nights' stay.  Since everyone calls to make their own reservation, there really is no wagonmaster for this rally.  Therefore, in the fine tradition of NNC, I declare this a "non" rally, and have chganged the title of this thread accordingly!
