So here are the basics.

If you are a member - free - if not $30 per day.
Silent Valley is located between Banning and Idylwild, at the elevation of 3500 feet ( read - probably nighttime temp in the 40's )

Presently no limit.  Will need to have reservations in by early January ( this gives me time to set up some accounting.)  We could add people later than that - but to reserve a area.... we need to do it then

Suggested location - Section B - by bridge leading to Family Center.  Good bathrooms - nice trees.. somewhat secluded from the big units... ( any other idea - let me know) right in the midddle of the area is a RR/bathhouse - much much cleaner and nicer and warmer than Vail Lakes.

So, start putting you names here.  Will help me track.  More information to come.

well after much thought we are going to bail on this one..especially after looking at the "current conditions" on their website. We are colder in February than November abd the Highs are barley reaching 50 and the lows are low 30's. I see my entire family spending the entire weekend in the Trailer. DH & the kids HATE the cold. Gee I probably would have to resort to long sleeves and maybe a jacket :yikes:  It sounds like a really nice place but hopefully I'll geta chance to check it out in the warmer months.

Thank You LCMS PASTOR for setting this up it looks like you're gathering a group together.

I think I'm going to check into East shores RV park @puddingstone lake in San Dimas a little lower elevation and a little warmer (eastshorervpark.com)

Hope to see ya soon!!!

I checked out the camp ground and it looks very nice but not sure about the hook ups anyone been here?  Does it have full hook ups?  Not sure I want to camp without Electric....Like to run two heaters when it gets cold or plug in the electric blanket......Thanks for your help......carol and Jim

Azusateach

Greetings from Azusa!  I finally decided to just do it & subscribe to the magazine, and now I can officially reply to things going on here.  I've been "watching" the chatter about the Silent Valley weekend and would love to join you.  I'm new to the PU scene, having just purchased a Rockwood 1950.  I've taken it out once, and had a blast!  Everything works, and I'm chomping at the bit to go more.  It's nice to know that there are like-minded folks out there with the same kind of trailer I have -- makes me feel a bit more affirmed in my purchase.  About Silent Valley ... I have a free visit coming, so I think I'll use that, if it's okay.  Can I request a specific area, or if I tell them that I'd like to be part of your group will they put me with you?  Lots of questions, lots of enthusiasm!  Thanks!

Welcome Azusa....I haven't a single answer to any of your questions, but just wanted to welcome you to the group.  It's a nice group of like-minded people...sometimes we have trouble figuring out just what those minds are like, but that's part of the fun.

I believe that all the sites have electric and water. I think that some of the sites in B section do not have sewer hookups, but I might be mistaken on that. I like B section, because it is a bit more wooded than some of the other areas.

It does get chilly, but not as cold as Idylwild, which is quite a bit higher in elevation.. I usually go by the forecast in Banning, and then figure about 5 degrees cooler.

Holly and I are members, if the weather isn't too cold, this sounds like it will be a lot of fun.

Tracy and David

Well, it looks like we're in for this one; 2 adults t & 2 kids.  Although I have to say, a member friend sent us photos from last weekend there, and everything was blanketed in snow!!!  Hopefully it won't be that way in February!!!!

Also, add David to the Birthday list for the weekend.  His is actually a week later, the 28th, but close enough.

We've missed camping with Sccampers this year.  Having a competitive gymnast really makes a dent in the family social life!  Alison is not allowed to miss workouts the week of a meet or she can't compete and we had competitions nearly every weekend all Fall.  Sunday is our last one for the year, though, so we should have our life back!  Just in time to camp in the Winter!  Oh, boy!

That must be some sight...I can't imagine trying to pull my trailer up the hill from the campground to the main road. It is quite steep!

As for snow, I went up to Idylwild today. Heading up from Banning, there were just traces of snow on the sides of the road, to the Poppet Flats Road turnoff. It was a bit chilly...
