Hello my camping extended family...

After many months and months of let downs and delays, we are finally moving forward with the construction of our log home.  Two Mondays ago, we met with the land guy up at my land and talked stuff out.  This past Monday, Stephie, Sabrina, and I were up at my land "pinning out" everything and at town hall getting tax maps, dimensions, and where we are allowed (and wanted) to put the house, etc.  To make a long story short we're starting to clear the land in two weeks.  The driveway should be in soon after along with temporary power.  I am going to have them put in a power box like at a CG so we can take the PU up there (and get some work done to hold down costs) and have our own "campground".  Anyone care to join me??  I won't charge much...  LOL!  I feel SO much better now that at least something is going on rather than getting BS'ed for over a year with the old contractor/builder.

Hey Rick!

That's great news. Are you going to leave the power box in after the house is built, for friendly visiting travellers?

jazman

P.S. I still haven't got a hitch on the 'Trac yet... I better get my butt moving, it'll be spring before we know it...

Beer Belly

Rick, sounds like good news.....the Wife wants to sell our home and build a Log Home, maybe when I get closer to retirement (15-20 years). We have land in the Pocono Mts. that would be perfect for a Log Home, but we'd only be there a couple times a year....until I retire. I'm not sure a Log Home would fit in our area here in CT, need to be local to Ridgefield.

copcarguy

Hey Jaz... no hitch yet?? Looks like I'll be needing to make a trip down to you to get that truck tow ready... lol May will be here before you know it!  Yes, the plan is to keep the RV outlet installed somewhere once everything is done.

Beer Belly! Long time no see! Let's get motivated and meet at KOA in Newburgh this season. We've been talking about it for like 4 years now. :eyecrazy:

Beer Belly

Rick, I have a good feeling about getting together this year.....I'm making it a point, went to last years RV.Net NE Rally and had a blast....makes me want to meet more folks.

Sure Rick.  You will give everyone a chainsaw or a shovel and put them to work.  I am not falling for that one so easily.;)

Wow, Rick, that's great news. I bet Chris will want to come up and check it out. I'm sure he's dying to get out of this house too.

HEY GUYS!!!

UPDATE:
There is a bulldozer up there and it actually DID SOMETHING!!  After all these years something is actually happening.  Oh man, am I excited and scared s**tless.  Click on my webshots link for some pics...

PS - I took the pics with my new camera, shivering cold, and trembling with excitement.  Needless to say, they aren't the best pics I have ever taken.  Actually, they are quite blurry...  LOL.  Stephie says they look like that Bigfoot footage where you see him walking in a fuzzy film and can't make anything out good.  :screwy:

copcarguy

Well yet another weekly trip up there...  lots of progress in 1 week.  I posted more pics, if anyone is interested.

Beer Belly

Rick, Looks like there isn't gonna be any shortage of Firewood at your house, they seem to be moving along pretty good.

copcarguy

Hey Beer Belly...

funny you should mention the firewood, I am having them stack whatever trees they cut into a nice, neat pile so I can eventually cut and split them.  BTW, I got your email and as soon as I have 5 mins to write back, I'll do so...  Things have been very nuts around here with the land stuff and copcargirls sister having emergency surgery earlier in the week.  We almost lost her...  so we have her nieces (5 and 7yo) but please know I'll get back to you asap.

Beer Belly

Sorry to hear about the SIL...hope everything goes well, my best to everyone.

So what does your Dad think?:)

copcarguy

Hey all!

Tracy, when we pulled up there 2 days ago we were both shocked at how fast they have been progressing.  He was smart and changed into his boots, he kept telling me to bring boots, but I didn't and brought home 500 pounds of mud in the car.  :screwy:  I can't wait to see what this week will bring.
