Coleman Roadtrip Grill Question

I've decided to buy a Roadtrip Grill - the price ($97.50) is too good to pass up!

My question relates to the adapter hose. Will this Coleman adapter hose connect to the high-pressure connection on the side of my Coleman SeaPine (the one that is there for the outside stove) or will it only connect directly to the 20# tank?

Follow-up Question: If it only connects to the tank, is anyone aware of a hose that will connect to the high-pressure camper fitting AND can you suggest where to find it?

Thanks for your help!

We have a Roadtrip Grill and love it. We got ours from Costco and it came with the carry bag. I have a tall tee for my 5 gal propane tank and connect the t to the Coleman connection. I don't know what they type of connection comes out of your trailer though.

Rather than put water in the tray as Coleman recommends, line it with HD foil. Easy cleanup. I also use the RT to start my charcoal for my DO's .

We also have the Roadtrip and a coleman PU, but we never have hooked it up to the HP valve for the Colmean outside stove.  In fact, I don't think the thought ever entered our minds!  Just thinking aloud: I'm not sure that it would be safe to do that.  Wouldn't the Roadtrip need to be compatible with the high pressure part of it?  If it was safe and possible to do though, how cool would that be!!  I'll be interested to hear from those who actually have knowledge on this kind of stuff!  Great question! :)

I have a 98 Coleman Sunridge. I hooked up the coleman roadtrip grill to the HP line for the outside stove. I used the hose from the stove and connected it to a hose used to hook up the roadtrip to a LP gas bottle. I had to look at few before I found one that had a threaded end. I unscrewed the adapter from the hose for the roadtrip and used a threaded nipple to connect the two hoses together. You have to use the pressure regulator that comes with the road trip. Remember to check for leaks!!!!!! I used a 10 foot hose so the grill would be ouside the add a room. Need to be careful of carbon monixide, grill should be used in well ventilated area, outside.

My family and I went on a 3 week camping trip out west this past summer and used the grill every day. I dont see how we lived with out it.

From replies on another site, I have found this. Just in case anybody's interested, it looks like this is exactly what is needed to connect the RoadTrip regulator directly to the HP connection on the camper. And at US$18.99 for 10', it looks like a good price too.

Thanks for the help!

Hi Bean! First of all, welcome to the site.

We use the Road Trip and, from time to time, need the camper stove as well. This is what I came up with for the RT: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/skus/index.cfm?skunum=24017&src=SRQZ  Works well and I can also use it with higher BTU appliances such as the turkey fryer. It also keeps from removing the gas line into the camper and getting air into the system.

That looks like Moose's set up.

SkipP, thanks for that lead! That is a pretty slick arrangement. Now, I wonder if there is a splitter arrangement that can be fitted to the HP connection on the PUP? Hmmmmmm...

Beancounter,
I have the exact same setup at Skip does.  My family absolutely loves the roadtrip grill and this is our main cooking device when camping.  We purchased an extra grill and griddle plate, plus the wire burner attachment works great for cooking items in sauce pans and such.

Good question Bean. I wonder if there was enough pressure to carry two appliances off that conection though. The HP quick connect on the camper is actually not full "bottle pressure" so that may cause a problem. If you look at the hose leaving the bottle, there is a two stage regulator and the HP connection tie-in is between them. This is why we went with the "Tee" connector, it comes straight off the bottle, before either regulator.

I'm sure you can buy the "Tee" seperately and that, in combination with the hose you found, will save you some $$$. Something to think about, at least!

That's how I've had it connected to the propane tanks on the trailer. I also have the separate "T" so I can connect it to a separate bottle and have a propane lantern on top. Either way it works great. Griffsmom got us hooked on the Roadtrip. She's also cost us money at Walmart as we seen to follow her when camping with them.

OK, who's got some humble pie. And it's a lot of fun when you see a small boy leading a mom to another popup asking for Mr. Moose and Ms Paula. And both of them have smiles that light up their faces.

no humble pie--just some silly 'ol teasing.  And the smiles wouldn't be there if we weren't so fond of you and Paula.  (You were talking about us with the smiles, right?) :)
