Our first trip of the season is coming up in just 4 days.:)  We are going to Assateague Island National Seashore in Maryland.  There is so much to do, dewinterize and sanatize the water system, repack the stuff that was removed in the fall, etc.  I sure wish the weather would improve so I could get this stuff done.:eyecrazy:

Go ahead, rub it in. I'll bet you wave candy in front of little kids too.;)

Hope you have a good time and the warm weather heads north for your trip.

I still have several weeks to go and that may not happen.

:p   our camper is mostly in the mud, so it will be a couple of weeks,

My daughter is on spring break from H.S> and we are toying with the idea of sending DH and Alyssa by themselves.  First time we would camp without the whole family.  Biggest concern is the weather, what do you think you will be encountering?  What day will you arrive?   Anyway to ensure you get on theoceanside like you prefer or is it first come...?  I am back in school and have a different spring break and then either of my daughters.

Questions Questions....

Hi Dee,

It looks like it will be around 50 during the day and 40's to 30's at night.  Chance of rain, a few days but not steady rain.  We are going to leave Thursday after school, I took the day off, and will get there about 10 PM.  It is first come first serve this time of year.  You can't make reservations until April 15th.  I am sorry to hear that you can't come.  I hope DH and DD make it.:)

If you have any other questions please let me know.:)

Hey Tracy,
Hope you have better weather than when I was down there. I still laugh at the pictures of Courtney taking an outdoor shower and freezing. Some memories are priceless  :D . I can't complain about the breeze. I kind of enjoyed not being able to get a fire going and HAVING to eat out all the time.

BTW, they're predicting 6" of snow here tonight. So much for camping. I did get the EZUp out this week. Courtney and Jason spent Sunday tailgating with the HS kids at Continental Arena - our HS won the NJ State Hockey Championship on Mon night. Last night, J and I returned for a Nets game. 3 nights in a row, not bad. Not as good as camping though.

You guys are lucky.  Try living in California.  Rain, mudslides, earthquakes, and that was just this week!

Tracy,
Sure hope you got going. We have more snow than predicted, saw a report on tv last night saying we had 8" and still snowing. HS kids had another snow day today which should make for a very long fun weekend. Still not as good as camping.

We ended up with 3 inches of sloppy wet snow.  Decided to leave earlier than planned (11:00am) and made it to Assateague a little after 4pm.  It was the quickest we ever made it there.  The weather there was better than I thought it would be, only one day of rain and it poured all the way home.  No big winds.  It was a nice start to our camping season.:)

Hey Tracy .you're one up on most of us! :> Glad it turned out better than you thought. I know here in Northern VA we didn't have the nicest weather but at least we had no snow!

Tracy, glad you had a good trip! Our first trip was the same weekend (okay, okay, you beat us heading out). Had a great time in Charleston, SC on Saturday. Sunday the, uh, Kampground;) was flooded.

ANY start is a nice start to camping season!

This Easter trip was one where the camper proved it's worth, thats for sure. I'd hate to have dealt with all the rain in a tent!

Earlier this month a friend and took our first overnighter in a Yuma - whopping 40 miles away, but was following the advice of having the first be close to home.  Had a blast!  Saw a flock of pelicans glide in and land on the lake.  Glorious sight!  First time I saw something like that so close up.
