I wonder if they've turned into snowmen ...

Just saw the news -- hail in the Antelope Valley, with the snow level going down to 3500'.

Sure am glad they ran out of campsites!

wavery

I really did want to go up and visit but I'm out of commision at the moment.

A little rough weather always adds to the adventure :D  I would have taken one of the campsites if I had a better TV. I mainly stick to the beach areas though,  because of my light weight TV.

I wouldn't miss that trip for anything. I love Yosemite! :D

It snowed lightly but didn't stick at all in the middle of the night.  The temps combined with the wind made it BONECHILLING cold!!!!  I had to leave today because DD got sick and needed to go to the Dr.  Um...I'm sad she's sick, but I have to admit my nice warm bed and house are a welcome trade.

Potlucks were awesome, Apples game was awesome, meeting our new friend Grizzlytaco and family was awesome, but did I mention it was COLD???

Yes, I'll have to agree that it was one cold weekend but we managed to have a great time as usual. Thanks, Brian, for putting this one together. In spite of the cold, the campground had a lot to offer. Karen and I went horseback riding with my kids at the campground stables and they really enjoyed seeing the camels (yes, camels!). We had raccoon and geese visitors at the campsite and the kids enjoyed fishing on Horseshoe Lake and playing at the playground. Although we missed the breakfast potluck because we didn't arrive until late Saturday morning, the dinner potluck was yummy as usual. Spending the night at the Red Roof Inn kid-free was a wonderful treat for Jim and I...thanks again, Darksiders! That was a perfect birthday present. We went up to Calico Ghost Town yesterday for Civil War Days and although it was very chilly there too it was a fun adventure.

We are looking forward to the next camping trip hopefully with temps higher than the 20's to 40's!

We'll what a Maiden Voyage this was for us! Our first time taking the New PU out, I was hoping for an easy set-up, but instead we got hit with winds up to 45 miles an hour while we were setting up the PU, this made it interesting. My first SPUT happened also, after I backed the PU into place i went to put the wheel on the tongue jack, i thought I put the pin in the right way, but i was wrong and when we moved the PU the wheel came off, i couldn't get the wheel back on because I bent it and the pin wouldn't go in. I had to go get a block to put under the jack. I wound up going to K-Mart for the block. Our first night was windy and cold at first, we were all at The Vikings Camp all huddled up under the EZ up tent just shooting the S*#@t , the winds started to die down when it started to rain, we didn't care because we were under the cover talking and having a good time. At about 1:00am it started to Snow. What a Test for first time PU'rs, Wind, Rain and Snow.
Saturday morning we had a potluck breakfast the was REALLY GOOD everyone sat around and enjoyed the feast, it was still windy and cold though. For Dinner Sat night we had an Italian Themed Potluck that was out on this world, OldMoose your DO Pizza and DO blueberry and pear cobbler was outstanding, you just had to look at my kids faces to tell how much they liked it! HaHa!! Dee, I really liked playing the game Apples to Apples, that is really a fun game. Sunday Started out with a little rain, but it didn't last long. Brian got the fire going in the morning and everyone came and sat around just talking and having some fun. The winds did pick up a bit, but with the fire going it wasn't bad. Later my kids were getting restless so my Wife and I took the kids to dinner and to a movie to see Curious George. When we returnd to the campgrounds the gate was locked, I pulled over to the side of the road and we were just going to leave the car and get it in the morning as to not get a ticket for parking in a no parking zone. Anyway as we were ready to walk at 7:30 at night, an RV was about to leave when he saw us, he said there was a code to open the gate but we couldn't get it to work to let us in. Keith the guy in the RV along with his 2 kids gave us a ride back to camp, he dropped us off in front of Freedom5's camp where everyone  was sitting around the fire, how embarrassing was that. After sitting with them for a bit around the fire Brian noticed someone had entered the camp ground so I went to that persons camp to find out how he got in, he said when you enter the code you have to push up on the lock then pull down to open. I couldn't believe how stupid I was. Brian gave me a ride to get my car, we got the gate open with no problem. All in all though it was a fun and relaxing trip, we made some new friends we hope to see at some future rallys, and maybe you'll  come to Vegas and we can show you around the town. Thanks, Viking (Brian & Kristi), DK&Kids (Dan & Kristi), Dee4j (Dee & Dan), Chezway (Jim & Jeanne), Darksiders (Wes & Karen), OldMoose (Bill & Paula), Freedom5( Bob & Trina), It was Nice Meeting all of you, you all made us feel very welcome, and we hope to camp with you sometime soon!! I did post my Mojave Narrow Pics, All the couples and family pics came out Great...........Ed

Thanks for the pics. I'm really sorry that we didn't make it out. It would have been a good opportunity to meet everyone.

Sorry that you had problems setting up your first time.

You can pick up a new jack for your PU pretty cheaply.

I like this one because it has a nice big tire and I like to push my trailer around by hand sometimes:

Ok, now that my fingers have fully thawed out I can post about the trip. As in the previous posts, yes it was real cold. The wind chill alone as figured by DNA Dan and myself was in the neighborhood of -250. Maybe not that much, but felt like it. We did salvage the last night with no wind or rain and a roaring campfire. It was great meeting Ed(GrizzlyTaco) and clan, we had a few jokes at his expense due to this being his maiden voyage, and having to get a ride from a stranger back to camp because he has had no prior training on combination locks at campgrounds. That will live on for awhile. We look forward to camping with you guys again. Bob(Freedom5), Trina, Theresa, & Chloe showed up on Sunday for an overnighter they will not soon forget. Bob, when I say I have extra propane, the answer is yes I'd love to borrow some propane. Dee, your fire was......wait, you didn't build a fire.(Cluck Cluck). Dan & Kristi's Kiwi was awesome for the A2A games, hopefully we won't have to use it again. Chezway & Darksiders I only wish we had enough time to play some poker, I could have used the extra cash. As usual we had fun with all and look forward to the next one.  I would like to say check out my pics for this trip but the camera was left in the warm confines of our house.:swear:

Hey --

What's that bracket around the vertical tube?  I'd like a better wheel to push, as I keep my PUP in my garage.  Also, do I have to order on-line?  Is there a store around here I can pick one up at?  Thanks!

That is the bracket that mounts it to your trailer tongue.

These are the 2 closest to you. I go to the one in Pasadena because it is always well stocked.
