Quote from: darksiders...hey, did anyone notice that we'll have a new place to camp at the beach in a couple of years?!!  i just heard on the news that a moblie home park is being converted into a cg....  it's in El Morro, which is between Laguna & N.B
YIPPEE!!!  (i did feel sad for the people that were evicted, albeit only for a nanosecond)

That place had been a political hot potato for many years.

The El Morro RV Park was developed generations ago and sites were ONLY passed within family members and close friends.  Essentially, they were squatting on prime beachfront real estate.  They "sold" the sites for hundreds of thousands of dollars,, to the occasional newbie.  It was wrong.

The place was featured on public television's California's Gold with Huell Howser a few years ago, (Show #321 Crystal Cove).  That television exposure essentially destroyed whatever was left of the "secret sanctuary".

Now it will become a public campground that everyone can enjoy.

That's funny.  I knew crystal Cove sounded familiar.  I put a bid in quite awhile ago to do some glasswork on new buildings they are putting there.  I should see if I still have the blueprints for the project.  I could give everyone a pre-opening sneek peek at what the ammenities will be there.  I know there are 4 buildings and three picnic structures.  I pulled my pricing and there is about $70,000.00 of glass in the job so it's fairly big.

Seriously, after what you read about our Mojave Narrows trip you think that would bother us?    Not!

I think that the sites there have electrical hook-ups.  Is that right?

If they do, it will be the first time that I've camped with hook-ups. I hope it is cold, if they they do :D .

I can't even imagine not having to bring my generator :eyecrazy: . We'll be travelin' light :-()

At least I won't have to boil water to defrost my water and drain hoses like Mojave Narrows.

This cg is in Oceanside, which is in north San Diego county, just past Camp Pendleton Marine Base (if you're heading south).  It is about 5 or so miles from the ocean, so there will be no freezing temps.  June Gloom, yes, but freezing temps, no.

TheViking

According to my research, Oceanside's June averages are as follows:

Avg High  -  70
Avg  Low -  58
Avg Precip- 0.1 in

Wayne, if you think this kind of weather is freezing, you would have crossed over up in Victorville brother!

Ya, I know. My brother lives about 5 miles from that CG. We are going to build our new home in Fallbrook so I'm quite familiar with the area :D

It just always concerns me when some one says, "Trust me, the weather will be fine". I guess that comes from so many years of sailing and making long ocean passages in "Fine weather season" and getting my tooshy kicked.

Forgive me but it may take a while before I get the hang of "Land cruising". :p
