Quote from: Chez WayI get extensions for our clients all the time...it just takes a phone call to the voicemail jury service system (unless the rules in the OC are different from LA county).
They are the same rules. Just call the court and tell them you have a prepaid vacation.

I'm tagged for jury duty next week (LA). I have to call in this weekend.

darksiders

OK, you guys can't start playing the "jury duty" card now!  It's easy to get it postponed, because, folks, camping is far more fun than hangin by the phone.

i still am missing a few payments, and i will be confirming our sites with the cg this weekend. i have pm'd those who i haven't heard from as a courtesy. i will not be able to guarantee a site for anyone that hasn't paid by this weekend. however, that doesn't necessarily mean that you won't be able to join the group...as long as there are sites available, you can make arrangements with the cg directly.

i will be out of town from 1/11 thru 1/16, so i want to make sure i secure our rally with the cg prior to then.

thanks, gang!

LOL, I have to report on the 7th!  The Jury Services dept loves me--I get called every year, sometimes twice a year! (you can only serve once every 12 months.) I can't get out of it either, even though I work for the court now, which is fine.  As a litigation attorney, I always felt it would be hypocritical to try to get out of jury duty when part of my job was taking cases to trial.  Besides, I don't mind jury duty. I've sat on a jury three times and like watching other attorneys' styles and  mannerisms.  The good news this time is that jury services will let me stay in my office instead of the  jury assembly room and then when my jury pool is called to a courtroom, they'll just give me a call and I can go to the courtroom from my office.  Aaaahh, the perks of being a civil servant...;)

Sofar....so good for me. I wasn't needed today or tomorrow. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I've been called twice, dismissed twice. The first time because the trial was going to be about 7-9 days and I'd already missed four days of work because of the nature of the call-in system and the judge had mercy on me. We court reporters start getting assignments by noon the day before, so by the time I'd find out if I had to report, the assignments were all gone.  The second time I got as far as voir dire, but I know too many cops, have too many in the family, and the case involved armed robbery of a liquor store clerk, and my dad was robbed at gunpoint while working as a liquor store clerk, so the defense wasn't overly fond of me.

Paul gets called every year and always gets on a jury.  He likes the break from work, especially since he's on salary.

Hey Deidre
Thanks for waking me up. I did volunteer to lead who ever decides to go out to the wineries. But more important I also volunteered to host the dine out at A.J. Spares for Sunday night dinner. I called and they ask me to call tomorrow to talk to one of there managers. So my question to all out there. should I post the info under this topic for sign up for dinner or start a new tread for the dinner out ?

I say....LORI ???? anyone ??? Lori??

my thoughts is to start a new thread containg 2 rosters one for wine tasting and one for AJ's . this way you can keep going to page one an update the list

Wine tasting Saturday
AJ's Sunday

not sure if I remember correctly

oooh I forgot about dinner...yum yum...We're in..2A 2C  we may have to go early around 5 PM I have found earlier is easier to accomodate

I'm a DD for wine tasting so I can take 7 more

just so ya know this is real Love. I never take out Kara's latched in 3 places harder than  :swear:  to get out carseat. :sombraro:

Dan isn't a wine drinker either he will have his car but only holds 4 total or he can drive someone else's if we can get a voluteer to beat..  I mean watch our kids while we're gone ;)

did we decide no breakfast potluck??

I will if everyone votes to have one..but it would be nice not to have to get up :morning: if we do put me down for BB

Potluck Saturday Nite.....not sure yet ..I'll let ya know

darksiders

dee, thanks for being a DD...if you don't want to hassle the car seat...i'm sure someone will pony up...but we are grateful for the supreme sacrifice in the name of wine, particularly since you don't partake.

a breakfast potluck might be a good idea, so we can fill our bellys before imbibing in libations...but if the general consensus says nay, that's ok, too

we will definitely have a potluck for dinner on sat. eve

i think we have agreed that wine tasting is sat, AJ's is sun

Chez Way

I'm signing up for wine tasting (Jim and the kids will not be going) and the whole family (2A and 2c) is signing up for A.J. Spears.

We would also like to do both breakfast and dinner potlucks (Dee you don't have to get up...just toss the BB's out your trailer door:D ).

P.S. Dee, what happened to OSU last night?  Geez.  It makes the Michigan loss to OSU look even worse.  Jim has been searching for just the right shirt...
