Well, our unusually warm winter here in central Minnesota has come to an end.  It was -11

Well ,the cold weather is arriving in VA  :frosty:
I was able to get 'in' a camping trip back on the weekend of Jan 6th whoo hoo!! my first 'winter camp' trip (even though it was 65 degrees) and first one of the year 07  

Hopefully everyone's power will be restored soon...and I guess I better take inventory on all my propane bottles and get some of my other camp gear together, we can get some bad ice storms around here in VA too.

it's 11 am at it's 59 deg here now..This is still cold for us. we should be closer to 70.

Our yard has frozen pointsettias, alstromeria, geraniums, parsley.....and saddest of all:  frozen bougainvillea.  Bummer.

That is why I live in Cali :rolleyes: we are are whining here cause it's so rare we get this cold some people don't even have jackets warm enough for this weather. I went thru a jacket phase and I bought them and didn't wear them..too hot. it was a good thing for my neighbor who's house caught fire on Friday, I was able to help them out and give them a couple of them
 
 
and shoveling snow..no thanks my kids barley make it to school ontime now could you imagine having to shovel snow first. :eyecrazy:
 
I love the snow for about...5-6 hours then I'm done. and it's only a little over an hour away. I can visit ...then leave ( and go to the beach :sombraro: )

It's been in the low teens here since Friday. 9 degrees this morning. The high gets up into the 40s but not warm enough to melt all of the ice in the gutters and such. DD school opened back up today. The pipes froze over the weekend and a few of them burst. The problem was the pipes that burst were the fire sprinkler lines. Kristi just dropped Ashlee off at school and called me. She said you can see where it looked like a "River" of water was flowing out the front doors and out into the parking lot because now it is all Ice.

..... Right now at 8:00 am it is 3 degrees.  With the winds it is -7. That's cold no matter where you are!

Hey Bill ... I already hot-footed it on down to Lowe's and picked-up one of those on sale for half price Mr.Buddy Heaters.  Now owner of two!  Now I can just leave one in the popup and keep the other right handy for the outhouse and such.

Wanted to head up toward your way and wet a line there at Baden Lake  (Uwharrie Nat'l Forest), but it's going to have to do another one of those "warming spells".  Can't fish in this kind of weather!
