Quote from: BootheBunchWe LOVE our pop-up...and really had no intention of moving up for awhile. However, our girls are getting bigger....and our younger one sleeps a bit rough...the older wants her own space....so, we will probably have to move on to something where they have their own bed--and so they can possibly bring a friend. But, I really have no clue what we will end up getting down the line...

You want to cross over to the Darkside......I can feel it..... Your inner self WANTS to be a ToyHo.....

First year in a pop-up and we love it. Comfortable (a/c), dry camping and still being very close to the outdoors. I have all the room I need the minute I step out.
But, as mentioned in the conversation in my thread "pulling question", I would love to have away to take my PWC(s) with us, and if that means converting to a Hybrid, then thats the direction we will go in the future. I hope they will come out with something in the POP-up configuration though.

If we ever do make the move the the darkside, there will be no incremental steps.  We will likely go from PopUp straight to a ridiculously plush DP ClassA in one quick flash of "darkness"! :D

It depends on many factors but we (I) have been looking at the darkside (aka lightweight TTs).

I have no plans in the near future. My girlfriend and I feel I have the best floorplan for now or even later, if things happen and we have a small family. With 1 king, 1 queen, and 1 double (dinette) bed. We have enough sleeping for a good size family and have the toilet and shower to keep the kids in sight and secure.

As my girlfriend says, we camp in a rolling hotel. As her son says, we camp in a small house.:) I think we all are pretty happy with what we use and needed only a small truck (or even the unthinkable soccer mom minivan :) ) to pull it.

Have a good one.

No, I plan on keeping my P/U. I down graded from a travel trailer and 5th
Wheel to a P/U. I wanted to go back to the near feeling of tent camping.
I don't go camping to have all the things that I have at home. Thats not
camping. If I got to have them why go camping. Just stay at home.
Keep P/Uing,
Bill

We have been looking at the Trailmanor.  They are awfully expensive, but I haven't been able to find anyone that doesn't like them and used ones are hard to come by.  Like a lot of the other responses, we keep our popup at home (backyard) and don't want to have something that is stored away from home.  I like to tinker and load up from home without having to go retrieve it from a second location.  Also, since it is below the fence, I am not going to get any nasty letters from the HOA about my camper being an eye-sore in the neighborhood.  Look forward to this issue.  PLD

I like the Trailmanor also. I missed a used (like new) one by just a few minutes, a couple months ago. It was 3 years old and half the price of a new one. :banghead: (the guy went "Toy-Ho")

The guy was nice enough to open it up and show me around. It really does open up in 2 minutes flat. I timed him (without him knowing). The mechanism is not complicated, opens with one hand and is easy to service. The trailer isn't a lot heavier than my PU. The guy did tell me that it is scary to tow in a side wind but then any trailer that long would be.

I liked it because a person could pull up in a rest area, pop the thing up, have lunch, enjoy the view and be down the road in under an hour.

We would have to change from small easily parked cars to a much bigger vehicle.  We'd also need to store off-site at a cost of at least $75 per month.

So the short answer is ... Who knows?  Probably not.

Quote from: PopUPTimesWe're getting a lot of inquiries about our next issue of the magazine that will cover the topic of moving on to a hybrid or other style of RV/camper. I'd like to publish the results of this question in that article.

Do you plan on moving to a Hybrid or other camper / RV within the next 2 years?
We are not planning on moving to any other style of camper. We love our pop up.

Gwenzilla

We have a TrailManor which some people call a hybrid...we consider it our "hard sided pop-up" without the canvas worries.  Its small size, similar to a pop-up, is the main reason we bought it.  The benefits mentioned in previous posts such as ease of positioning, at home storage, visibility around and over, and minimal fuel costs to tow are some of the reasons we have no desire to "move up".
No mobile mansions for us... we're camping to get away from it all, not to bring it all with us.

This isn't in time for your poll but we do plan on moving up to a small TT in the next two years.  We have been looking at them and when DH soc sec starts in Feb.'09 we'll  really be looking........tick,tick.......can hardly wait......
