Quote from: BootheBunchLOL...you are funny!!  Okay...you just talked about dust...faces being covered in dirt.  YUCK!!!  I broke out in hives just reading your post!

BUT, I actually now have a really good reason for not coming out in the dirt.  The youngest DD is severely allergic to dust (we just found out last week...finally got in to see a specialist...and her asthma is worse than we thought).   Her little body produces histamines 24/7, as there is dust everywhere!!!  She is now on three new meds (one for asthma, 2 for allergies).

We're not camping again until Feb.

 Have fun!

Hey Lisa -

Good news - you KNOW what you're dealing with now w/DD!  That's quite the challenge to deal with, but at least it's no longer a mystery! PLUS, this is a GREAT time to explain to DH how next year when you are full time, a cleaning lady WILL BE REQUIRED!  :sombraro: (best thing I ever did!)

Quote from: AzusateachOooohh! You're going to be right down the street (literally) from me at Bert's! If you need suggestions for good places to eat (if you're here at lunchtime), let me know!
Thanks Laura! We were at Bert's when they opened and then went to Bass Pro shop for a few xmas items. We were home by 1:00 and decided to eat lunch when we got back. We'll take you up on that offer next trip down when we have more time.

Oh, yes!  I have already been asking for referrals for cleaning ladies...I am getting ready!  I wonder if I can use my medical flexible spending account for a cleaning lady....for my daughter's health.  Need to ask for a doctor's note!!  Wouldn't that be nice!

BTW, it is official....I am fulltime next year!  I gave notice last week...and have been shopping ever since.  The problem is, I won't have the extra $$ until NEXT September!  Ack!

Lisa --

I just started allergy shots three weeks ago. After all these years, I was finally tested, and of course I'm allergic to all the things that are impossible to completely avoid -- all trees, dust, mold, dust mites. So I had to do that initial heavy cleaning and I've been cleaning every weekend to keep the dust down. I still have to purchse the mattress covers and new pillows and/or covers. What a PITA. The kids are hating it because, of course, I'm not doing it all myself.

The biggest thing is we have mold on our shower ceiling, which Paul has to deal with, so of course, I still have mold on our shower ceiling. His solution is this is the time to finally tear apart our bathroom to remodel it. Yeah, I'm not holding my breath (assuming I could without coughing!!!)

What a pain!  I am sorry!!!

Did you get rid of carpet, too?  I've been told we might have to do that, at least in her room.

Lisa, when you are ready, feel free to ask the master any Asthma related questions.  Remember, I've had it for over 40 years.  Longer than alot of the doctors I've seen have been alive.

Thanks, Bri!  Tomorrow we see the specialist again to see if the meds are working....I think the asthma one is....but they have to do the breath test to check.

Did you ever take something called Asthmatab? It's an old medicine, maybe before your time.

Not sure about that one.  It's a pediatric treatment drug so it would have been quite awhile ago.  So if i did take it i would not remember how it worked.  Did they explain the whole "trigger" thing to you?  It could  anything.  One of mine is mustard.

mustard?? my first thought was the yellow stuff in the jar. I forgot about the plant with the pretty yellow flowers bees like

I too have issues with dust.

Kara's headaches are from allergies. I have a giant hepa filter in her room.
I really need to tear out the carpet in the house the hard part is the money for new flooring :eyecrazy: actually it's not so much the materials but the labor  :yikes:
I thought of just doing some sort of paint or something on the concrete but Dan won't go for it.

maybe we should get a SCCampers work trade group together and we provide the labor at each others houses for exchange for food, drinks and a project done.  :screwy:

Nah...Asthmatab was something my dad took everyday for years...probably for 30 years or so.  It could have been before your time.  My dad had really bad asthma for a long time...he hangs out with his friends in VFWs and such...and once the no smoking ban began, his asthma got better (or, isn't triggered as much anymore).  They put DD on Pulmicort for a management, and MaxAir for rescue.  I know you do that Primamist stuff.  You know what else triggers my dad?  Onions and dairy products.  So, he stays away from most dairy, except cheese.  And, he loves onion, so he knows when he eats it, he will struggle that night, but it's worth it to him for that onion.  DD has told me she "chokes" when she drinks milk...so, possibly dairy could be one of her triggers, like my dad.  She has also had episodes at night after eating ice cream.  But, I am not 100% sure, yet.

The doc hasn't talked about triggers really. He does feel that her constant allergies trigger the asthma, but that is all we have right now.  Oh, stuffed animals get her good, too!  She even notices--and has thrown her stuffies on the ground.  Build a Bear has an asthma friendly bear that I may go get her...so she can cuddle and sleep with it.

I've seen a couple of houses like that and if done right looks really nice.

But it would be soooo cold!!!!

If we have to put in wood floors in DD bedroom, I will.  But, it will be a last resort.  It is so much more cozy to have carpet!  And, she plays on her floor.  I am just gunning for a cleaning lady....maybe that will help!  Oh, and cleaning out her room of all her junk!

I was just trying to be nice...it is the holiday season, you know!   :p

Although, I think my dad was fighting in Vietnam while Viking was running around in diapers.  So, he is a bit older....
