Cheryl

Paula,
You can come spend time with us any old time!!!!
We'll be there from a Saturday to a Sunday......so the first Sunday (13th)  would be good or the next Saturday (19th) would be good. Let us know and we'll throw another hot dog on the fire!

Thanks Cheryl, I meant go see Dee and Ken some weekend since they are not coming to the rally, but I might accept your offer too, I will be at Keen Lake Saturday to Saturday. As usual, still up in the air if Raymond is coming or not.
last year he came to NJ on the last day to give me the truck key since I had lost mine, and CHerokee, he came up mid-week for one day and left the next.  He did stay the whole time at Townsend TN and RJ Ranch. But did not come near Bath NY the other year.  This is my first Rally with out Dee and Ken...I think the 3 of us have done this together since Townsend.

SheBantam

This is the first rally that I am nervous about.  Raymond and I drove up there Saturday so I could see where to go BEFORE I got there towing the trailer.

There is a Sur-Fine grocery store, a Dollar Store (Family or General I cannot remember which one), a deli and a diner all about a mile to 2 miles from the camp ground.

What we saw is what makes me a little nervous. I LOVE trees, we have a yard full, but backing a trailer with all those trees, well I hope there is someone there to do it for me.  And people...yes this was a Saturday so a lot of campers should be expected. BUT we did not see where we can stage the campers to register. AND they have not given me my site number.  I am uneasy about parking the camper with all those people milling around the office and pool and lake...the office and pool are right across the street from the lake. I had a hard enugh time turning the minivan around in the office parking lot.  I did not see an aver flow lot except a small lot by the office for the 2nd car.  We will be bringing 2 cars as I doubt Raymond will stay all week.

I have e-mailed them and asked them to address my concerns about coming in and getting registered. I did not think about the parking until just now.

DiW

Paula, did you happen to check out the bathrooms and showers?

SheBantam

Sorry Di, did not, I was too obsessed about not running over one of the people around the pool and office, we turned around in the parking lot and got out of there.

I have asked to see if they can change my reservation to Sunday - Saturday.  By that time, most of the people around the pool should have left and I will feel a lot better about NOT hitting someone accidently.

I have also asked about overflow parking since Raymond intends to bring the Corolla and there is a one car per site rule.  The lot they have by the office was completely full (that is where they say that you can turn around after you register, if you park infront of the office).  They say to park in the street coming in, which blocks one driving lane??? But a lot of the crowd at the office and pool can be avoided.

I am the one who looks for Flying J truck stops when on the road because they have the RV lane and I do not have to manuver tight gas lanes...I am the one who when driving the truck even without the camper will park in the back 40 of a parking lot because I am not great at judging distances...IF I get nervous, I over steer and jack knife...

Note to self: Bring your Xanax (perscribed to only used before surgery) take it about Scranton... and blood pressure pills...make sure you have your BP meds...

paula, the group is in a special section in the camp grounds, the spaces are wide, the bath house is near with only those in the  circle using them. there is a play ground , baseball area, group ring, and covered area with tables to have the group dinner, with a sink, and the showers are there too.  you will be able to see all the group from your sites, you will have no trouble. promise.   you should of emailed mail tracy or I and we would of told you which section  you were going to be in. The laundry room is near office. so you know you will be in the GCP AREA, around the ball field, you can see it on there site map. in the upper right to center section.

paula you should of email mailed me direct that you wanted to come visit, I am at harmony thur-sunday  every week. so stop in .

SheBantam

Dee, I was thinking maybe sometime after the Rally.  I want to make sure that my coming would not interfer with anything else you all have going on like family or other friends.

Looks like Harmony Ridge is not too far from the Rally, putting not too far into perspective, I am about 200 miles by their estimations. So anything 100 or less is not too far.

It is the office area and registering that is making me nervous.  I am sure I will be fine when I get there and am set up.

I can come and go through Reading and Frackville (PA 61) (like I come and go to Locust lake) though the NE extension is faster.  The PA turnpike system is the worst roads I have ever paid to drive on.

I just do not know how to get around the constuction on I 81 around Scranton.  When we came back heading south, traffic was lined up for miles heading north, going nowhere. That was about noonish.

DiW

Paula, I hit that 81N through Scranton traffic last Friday night on my way to Watkins Glen. It was a dead stop. Going south looked just as bad and they had warnings up saying to find an alternate route. The south side closures are long term, I believe. We got off 81N at Scranton and took a smaller road. I can't remember the route number - we just got off and followed the road north and eventually hooked back up to 81 in time for ANOTHER construction (1 lane) delay. Such is life apparently on 81 My daughter travels 81 to/from college and says it's always under construction... The good news was that coming south on Sunday midday, we had much LESS traffic so the lane closures weren't as painful. If I remember correctly, you tend to travel at off hours and if so, you shouldn't be affected as much.

Dee - can you and Ken maybe make it up for a visit during the rally? It would be nice to see you.

I'd like to second that request for an invitation by Dee & Ken. We're hoping to go to Steamtown on one day. Maybe the kids (Nick & Nat) could join the group.

Dee that sounds like a great idea. A trip to Steamtown on July 17th. Looking forward to seeing you then. I thought Ken was off all week, on vacation. Did he cancel his vacation?:(

I will not be traveling off hours this time, $2.00 per hour for each hour early is a little steep and the site may not be vacated too early on Sunday.  I'll have to see if there is a way around the mess.

SheBantam

I got the e-mail back from Keen Lake, my reservation was moved from Sunday to Sunday,  I really wanted Sunday to Saturday, but that is OK.  They are also going to let us keep the Corolla at the site with the truck...

HMMMM, Watkin's Glenn, Maybe it is the Wades that got a new trailer???, since Di was up there as was Tracy and it is not Tracy and Not Andy.   I did not go this year...gas is too high and there is more beer flowing than I am  comfortable with. Though I do LOVE the area.
