Quote from: waveryThe other option is 405N to 101W(parking lot) to Camarillo (off at Rice Ave) go south on Rice about 3 miles then turn left on Hwy 1. Then back-track South about 10 miles. You'll see the CG on your right, just after you pass a huge rock point on your right and before you get to the huge sand dune on your left..

Correction  ;)  in Camarillo take the Las Posas Rd exit and turn south (left turn over fwy) go to the end and then get on the Hwy 1 (left again)  :D and continue as stated above

Quote from: waveryWhen we go, we take the 405 to I10W to Hwy1 north. It is a toss up on traffic, about the same travel time, depending on traffic conditions. However, Hwy 1 is a lot more scenic and pleasant as the ocean is just off to your left, the whole way up (about 35 miles from the I10).

..

thanks I will try that, I would LOVE to avoid the 101 mess...

Call me before you leave and I will tell you if there is construction on Hwy 1. That's when it gets messy. If there's no construction (or fires), it usually moves pretty good.

The only reason that we use Rice Ave is because there are places to eat and get gas. Las Posas will cut off about a mile but there is nothing (that I know of) between there and Pt Mugu. I haven't been that way for a long time though, it may have changed.

Be sure to gas up before heading down Hwy 1. I don't think there is any gas along the way.

ok now you bring up my next question, any good places to eat on the way up??  WE will probably get in too late to eat when we get there, and will eat on the way.  Any good places??

If you go Hwy 1 through Malibu, there are a lot of places. A fun place to stop is Neptune's Nest. It's 1 mile past Malibu Canyon Rd on the right (25653 Pacific Coast Hwy, Malibu, CA). You can't miss it. Look for about 100 motor cycles parked out front, just across from the beach.. It's a funky-fun place. The foods not that good (but who cares :-() ).......

There is a Jauque in the Box on the right just as you leave Malibu.

Oh my Wayne is recommending a Biker Bar??  Changes my perception completely.

I will check it out, but if the food no good the atmosphere better be good.

If the Bloods and the Crips show up...........just mosey on back to your car......don't forget the kids......or not.. :p

NAAAAAAAAA!!!! there are a lot of bike clubs that ride up & down Hwy 1. They all stop there for a beer & hot dog.

Quote from: waveryThe reservation is for 4 nights. Arriving Thurs - leaving Monday.

I will go up and say that the site is taken on Thursday afternoon (as we usually do). It is usually not a problem if I have something set-up on the site. However, if someone goes up and causes an issue with the ranger (because they want that site), he has the authority to give the site to someone else if he decides that it is being held and the person hasn't arrived yet. That just means that I will save the next closest site if that happens. It's usually not an issue. It's just that some people can be real jerks about people saving sites for others.

Wanna borrow my flame thrower..that'll scare 'em away.

I don't understand people..why would they want to squat in the middle of some group that will be pissed at them all weekend for taking the spot

Not sure about poker if we aren't close tothe group.  I think I am taking the kids solo on this one, and don't feel right leaving them by themselves in the trailer, if I can't hear/see them...we'll see

Wayne what day are you coming in?  As of now we' re coming in on Thur but thinking about coming in on Wed.....When are the rest of ya all coming in?
If all us Thursday SCCampers get in about the same time then we can try and hold some sites been done before.......Not easy but has been done.....Just a thought.
Are we there yet?
