bearbaitRetire and not drive 80 miles a day.

Figure what I save doing that, I can use to go camping. [:D]

bearbaitThis is my second attempt at a reply! The first is in Arvee cyberspace somewhere!
Anyway, we usually camp within 130 miles from home, so increase is not enough to keep us home! I hope that the increase causes development of alternative fuels because this is pretty much pure profiteering from oil companies! Even OPEC doesn t like high prices and increases production to lower them! They are afraid alternatives would become a viable competitor!
I really hope this comes back to bite the oil companies in the butt!
 Just my humble opinion!

bearbaitThe increase definatey won t keep me at home.  I only have a few camping trips planned for the summer as it is due to a stricter budget I am following in order to pay off some debts.

Those few camping trips are a " go"  no matter what.  Gas prices aren t going to stop me..

bearbaitOther than the [link=http://www.popuptimes.com/members/tm.asp?m=8472&p=1&tmode=1]2003 east coast rally[/link] (shameless plug) all of our campig this summer will be weekends close to home.

So no, gas should not stop us.

bearbaitThe gas prices will not change our plans at this point.  Believe me, we have really noticed the increased gas bill over the last two months or so.  I guess having a Suburban and Tahoe doesn t really help things..... I miss my Honda CRX, but couldn t tow a pop-up with one.... too bad, cause we averaged about 46 to 48 mpg.

bearbaitJust noticed the prices soaring today.  First time I have ever seen the price go above $0.80 a litre here in Canada.  Not sure how that compares to $1.50 per gallon.

It won t keep us home though.  Just a lot of grumbling when we have to fill up.[>:]

notrailends

bearbaitIt will not stop us the van gets about 19mpg towing anyway so its a go

ForestCreature

bearbaitI m cringing at the thought! It may curtail our weekend camping to closer to home
if I don t find a job soon, as the play money will be less.[&:] But it will not keep us home.
That would mean staying nearby and turning into a State park Creature.[:(]
The closet place we usually camp is 200 miles away. Guess just to get out I ll deal with it .

But it won t affect our vacation plans, that we will still do as planned.

pinhi18

bearbaitStill cheaper then air fare, hotels, and eating out[;)].  When I made plans for our trip to the mouse house I figured on gas being $1.90/ Gal.  No changes to our plans.

bearbaitGood question ~ I m in the middle of planning Road Trip 2003.  We ll put about 4000 miles on the  Burb ~ NOT including any side drives or day trips.....at about 13 mpg....that comes to......oh, heck!  Somebody else do the math!! I can t look! [:o]
While it will be a huge expense for this trip ~ we re still going.  Can t pass up the opportunity to show this fine country to our little campers.  We ll save in other ways.....I ll let you know what ways when I come up with them! [;)]

bearbaitMost of our trips are with in 300 to 400 miles of home, but we are planning on going to Disney in October.  If it gets too hi it may be cheaper to fly.

Miller Tyme

bearbaitGas prices don t have much of an effect on us. We usually don t camp much more than 50 miles from home. The F150 gets about 25 mpg highway(I-6 AOD 4X4) and the Caravan gets about 27 mpg(V-6 AT). Both run good on regular unleaded.[8D]

whitestar505

bearbaitWe try to keep most of trips within a two  hour drive. Most of the time it is within 50 miles. There is alot of camp grounds in this area. For our long trips we will do something drifferant to make up the cost of the gas. Everything is going up except my pay check. Nothing like making 100-125K a year and living with less than my dad did on 25K a year in the 50 s. Oh Well Another topic for some other time.

bearbaitIF Budwiser where $24.00 a case, Would I stop drinking it.......
