whitestar505Well if everyone is in the same boat as me this time of year then I can understand the fewer posts. 4 graduations this month, planning for a wedding (NOT MINE!), graduations parties (family obligations), end of school activities with the kids, class reunion coming up, time to get the yard work done etc.

Maybe things will pick up soon! [:D]

whitestar505I think we are getting closer to the real answer. I don t buy the time of year theory. It s always camping season someplace, and we re not all busy.

And I don t think it s just here, I get the same feeling on all boards. Some are a little busier, but there is never huge discussions like there once was.

There were 2 main reasons for anyone to even look for a PU message board.

First- question & problems - Now you can do a search for a website and find anything you need to know. Most of the PU sites and answers were started or figured out, by everyone here! But there s no reason to go to a message board for answers anymore.

Second- to find others that have the same hobby - with clubs starting everywhere.
It s getting easier to find a group website, so once you find a local club, why would you need a big one?

Well, that s what I think, the days of one message board for all PU answers just aren t there. There are too many places for new people to go.

whitestar505I have not been a big poster, because I m one that has alot to learn.  Every time I go to post something (like right now), there are so many things I want to say or ask that I get confused and then end up deleting it cause it just sounds stupid. (ask my DH he will tell you how things I say come out wrong)[&:]  He says I m just a true blonde, although now I have to do things to keep it blonde.

Oh well, I hope things pick up and we get on with life and posting[:)]

There are lots of folks here itching to answer your " stupid"  question that we ve all asked ourselves....probably twice. Even if you think it s stupid or you re not sure how to ask it, we re all pretty good at interpreting your question and getting you the information you want/need. So ask away. [:D]

whitestar505I never did post much, but enjoy scanning the boards and reading them. I ll try to be more " talkative"  in the future [:D]  I ve been slacking off from all my boards for a few months since when I wasn t running after a 2 yr old, or taking care of the house I was sleeping. Pregnancy has a way of doing that to you [&:]

whitestar505I like the site. We went to San Antonio Tx for spring break and I do not think I would have gone if I had not read about how nice the weather was in Texas in March. I went to the Aurburn  In. Koa for the purdue spring game. The campground was very convenient.

whitestar505Just so you all know.  This isn t the only slow board.  It is a lot warmer now.  More and more people are out camping and washing/cleaning their campers.  Hang in there when we all get back from the Rally we will post like crazy for a few days.[:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

whitestar505I check this board two or three times a day!!! Where s my life??? Anyway, I don t always post a lot, some of my questions, when I do post, die on delivery, but that s understandable. I still gain a lot of insight and advice from this board, more so than any other!
Compared to most other boards on almost any subject, this board has the fewest flamers, far less insults than any other I visit! I like it! I m staying! And hopefully I ll be camping two weeks from tomorrow!!!

QuoteJust so you all know. This isn t the only slow board.

That s the point. I think it s just the future of all of the PU boards.
Nearly everything about PU s has been figured out, and posted on someones site someplace. I think most the boards will be fine, just slower.

All a message board needs is a couple people to hang around and direct any new members to where they can find the answers.

question about ?? = OK, go to this site
question about ?? = then this site has a good explaination
looking for a club?? = check this site

There is no need for any long threads, until something new happens or changes.
The only other thing a board is needed for is a couple rallies & clubs that need to plan and don t have their own site.

TG1956

whitestar505Well, I just joined and was a frequent observer (not much of a poster) back when it was free. I decided to join recently because; a) I missed the message board and all of the excitement about popup camping and the great ideas everyone has (not just the " experts" ) about improving/improvising with their campers, b) I am really getting itchy to get a camper of my own - spring fever.

We ve decided to rent a couple of times in order to better understand or needs in a camper.

So, from a newbie, keep up the posting and for all of you " listeners"  like me, we need to jump in.

BTW, if you haven t checked out Missouri s Parks and Recreation web site, check it out. It s really fantastic with actual photographs of each campsite for ease of selection. makes me want to go to Missouri for all of my camping!

 Check it out!!

hbfc6OK, I admit I havn t posted a lot lately, or at least not as much as I did in the past.  For me it is a combination of issues.

First and formost, for the last three years I was a consultant working out of the house.  That gave me a flexable schedule and the ability to post often.  In January I accepted a full time position, which includes overtime[&:].  The time to post just isn t there right now.

 Now, my opinion-

When Dave posted that he was going to a paid membership format I thought the board was dead and I called and told him so.  We lost several good " cyber friends"  to other campgrounds.  I do miss many of these fine people and at times drop in on some of the other sites to say hi.

Thinking that one day I would need to see how thingsve happened, I started " keeping score" .  Here are the stats I have kept:

I did keep stats on other sites, but they had even fewer posts.

I think this shows PUT is not dead, far from it

Horscampr

hbfc6I still like this board for the most part.  I, myself, have not posted recently simply due to a lot of activity.  The weather IS getting nicer and I m out working on Ol  Poppy or riding my horse....or whatever.

...and when I m not doing that, I m working one of two jobs....so my lack of posting has to do with being real busy, nothing more.

I have to point out that I am a bit sad though to not see Elisa s posts anymore.  I really do miss her.  I only know bits and pieces of what happened between her and Bearbait.

....Anyway, I do miss her and wish she d come back[>:]

As far as the other boards go, I can t compare them to PUT s because what little time I spend on the computer, I am here.  The only other camping forum I visit is the GLPUC site.

wiininkwe

hbfc6I haven t been posting as much as I used to, partly because I thought that I was the dreaded Thread Killer.  Also because there was a lot going on in my personal life that kept me busy and away from the computer.   And a little bit because there were some minor (but upsetting) squabbles that made me wonder about my own sense of self importance.   We all have our own view points on various things, and current events, and we all like to think that ours is the one to prevail.  I m no different.  But, with all that s going on in the world right now, I began to feel that maybe I should let things calm down before I drive all my camping friends away with my ideas. So I wasn t posting much.    Things have started to simmer down, my opinions haven t changed, but I m missing the fun, and chatter and advice, the commiserating, etc. that goes on around here.    So, looks like you guys that are still posting are stuck with me, whether you like it or not.

hbfc6Shucks, I hit the wrong button.  Anyway, just listen to yourselves.  Just as you couldn t use your PU/TENT/TT/MH during the winter months, does that mean that you are not going yo use it any more??????[&:]

Others are posting (maybe not as often) but still if you look at the stats that Tim5055 gave, there is still more activity on PUT than other boards paid or not.

I ve read, posted and ask questions on this and other boards.  Who says that you can t be a member of ther others as well.  No one.  And you can t fool me, I ve seen some of you posting on the other boards.  Does this mean that you are no longer concerned with PUT.  I think not (well maybe one or two).  But, the truth is, you will post where you are comfortable, say what is proper, answer the questions where you have knowledge and then read the humor of the SPUTs like I do.  Give me a break.

I began in December when I found this board and just before it went paid.  Did it stop me.  Nooooo.  I joined because I thought this was one of the best places to discuss camping with a popup and to meet new people.  Now I can say that I have met some wonderful people and hope to soon meet others who I have chatted with over these past few months.  So just chill out.  When the time is right ( and maybe it won t be until fall or winter), we ll get back together on the boards.  For now, I m just enjoying the fellowship of the conversations and anticipate the face-to-face reunions at the rallys.

 OKAY  -  I m done.

QuoteHas anyone noticed that if it was not for about 10 of us this place would go to sleep lately. I guess everyone is out CAMPING. We should see some good CG reviews soon.

QuoteHey birol,

My threads die too. I have some on the campground reviews that get nothing. Maybe I have not been here long enough to see what is happening. Do you think you maybe taking it to personal. Or did someone open their big wide moXXXX?

 birol -
QuoteThat is only because I am not posting anymore ...
QuoteI felt that out of boredom I was posting way too much and people did not like it. Usually when I posted to a thread, nobody would post a reply and the thread would die, so I got a hint :)
QuoteNope, nobody opened their mouth ....

I just thought maybe I am anuisance and kept quiet for a little bit, did not post much.

 FC -
QuoteThis is the same question, just not as long asked by Bearbait some time back.
It got made light of for the most part, which lead to both his and Elisas absence.

We all knew the board would be slower going into this subscription thing, but come on!
This is bordering on being dead. Hope to see people start waking up and making the board what it is capable of being. (including myself)

Birol , you keep posting. Threads have a life and death of their own, I ve seen many I post to die too. Who knows maybe since we both posted to this it will die

 TK -
QuoteMust agree with a lot that has been said. I ve seen a number of threads die and wonder why. Use to post some long responces but don t do it much any more. About all I spend much time on is the reviews I write and I m not sure how they are taken. Jennifer is the about the only one that has given me much feedback. I m not looking for a " pat on the back" . Would just like to know if my stuff is being read. If you like what you read, just give it a " thumbs-up"  responce. If it s long and boring, let me know and I ll change or stop.

MommaMia

ForestCreatureHey Marcy... you took the words right out of my mouth!

I must admit though, I am guilty.  I haven t posted nearly as much as I used to.  I feel bad sometimes.  I know a lot of the newer people here have no clue how much of my time I used to spend here.  Things just have been crazy.  Trying to sell this house, kids activities with school, new puppy, etc.   I m sure when school is out, I ll have more time to get here.  I remember writing at the old boards how it was so wierd that during the summer, when I thought I would have posted less because of camping, I actually posted MORE!  There are fewer pressing things happening in the summer as opposed to during the school year.  The days are longer and there s more time to get things done.
