hbfc6Guess I ve slowed down in posting too.  There are a lot of reason, most of which have already been said.  One of the things I enjoy the most about camping is the people; I have had the great opportunity to meet serveral PUT members.  Unfortunatly, now it s iRV2 and PUX where most of the Canadian content is.

I m still drawn to the personal aspect of this board, wether it s Poppy getting out for the first trip, the MOAT saga and especially to hear about PUT family members abroad.

Jeffrey has made a goint point here.  I actually thought of this before when Bearbait posed a similar question about how slow it is here.

If you think about it, it makes a lot of sense that things are slower.  There are less members than before and most of the ones that are here have been with PUT for quite some time.  Therefore, there just aren t as many questions as there used to be.  Most of us had asked the questions at the old boards. Or we read about most everything when others asked.  Therefore, when some new " thing"  happens in regards to pop-ups or tvs, we can think back and remember it being covered in the old forums.  How many of us find ourselves saying " I wish the old board archives were still available?"   My guess is not many of us that have stuck with the new boards have said that often.

So it seems to me like there is a lot of waiting.... waiting for a new dilema to help out with, waiting for a new member to join so we can help out with our wealth of knowledge.

whitestar505I didn t have time to read all of the replys to night.

birol I miss you posting, please come back and post, post and post some more

whitestar505This is for birol.....even though we live on opposite corners of the continent, I alway enjoy your posts.  I love your sense of humor!

Gamecock Camper

whitestar505I ve just been busy, but everytime I come to the PUT board I don t see many new posts or many responses to old posts.

Ab Diver

hbfc6Hmmmm... looks like *this* subject got a lot of responses.[;)]

Couple o  things: When Dave first started this little adventure we ve come to know as PUT, it was pretty much the only game in town for pop-up trailers. And as such, it s popularity grew by leaps and bounds. People became friends with other *members*, and many folks learned a LOT about their trailers. Some folks posted quite often, and burned out after a while. New folks took their place. A few have hung around through it all, while others have moved on to other campgrounds.

That is not to say that PUT is dying, but the dynamics of the group *have* changed. It s no longer the only campfire out there. If you care about PUT, and if you think it s worth the membership fee, great! If you have the time (and the inclination) to post, so much the better. But if a new member asks a question, it doesn t take long to say " Howdy!" , even if you don t know the answer. Part of PUT is feeling like you belong to a large campground where everybody knows your name (sorry Cheers).

Granted, we all have different obligations in our lives. Some can t visit as often as they like (I know this is true of myself some weeks), some folks visit during work hours, some late at night. Some don t answer a question that s already been answered (there s that old " time online allotment"  thing again)...

...and some questions are not answered because they are never seen. I *really* think having the ability to see all threads (or topics) since your last visit was a nice feature of the old forum, and I would love to see that here again. I think a lot of posts get missed by the " Latest 50 posts"   that show up when you check to see what s happening (again, it helps to save time instead of surfing all 40+ forums to see what s been posted). Steve, if you are reading this, I hope you can address this problem. But then, I don t see things from your side, and probably don t have a clue of what I m talking about, technically speaking. [:o]

I, too, miss some of our AWOL members. I hope they will return to us soon. And don t worry about what people think of your posts... we all know that if somebody finds enough fault with them, you ll hear about it-- sooner or later. The difference here at PUT is just that we are all civil enough not to bring up that disturbing species diversity in your ancestry. [;)]

Ab Diver-  who s own ancestry has been called in to question a number of times...

whitestar505

 Ab DiverAb Diver,

You are right about *this* subject getting so many long hits. When I posted this thread never in my wildest dreams did I expect so much responds. So I beleive you are all out there just waiting for the right thread to respond too.

With a lot of information left behind on the old forum we, new campers/new club members, need you all sitting out there waiting for the right thread to start responding. There are a lot of new campers here that are here for a reason. That reason is to get help, friends, ideas and so on. Soooooo let us all go POPUP CAMPING and share that with others.

NightOwl where are you. You are my early morning friend...  Bearbait come back HOME!

hbfc6As one of the newer members, I have to say that, had it NOT been for the people o this board I would ve done a lot of stupid and wrong things with the PU when we first got it!!!

I THANK GOD for the board and it s people!  I have gotten SOOOO much information and modification ideas!  I think the forums are moving along just fine, but I would like to see some more posts in the camground review sections.

And so what if you get asked the same question over and over again!?  That happens all the time in the Boxerworld forums too.  New Boxer owners ask a question someone else has asked already, but we always post a response.

That s how you get to know people!  And using the internet to search for the informtaion to your question is not as easy as it sounds!  That s the only reason I ve started working on our website as a source for information, which, by the way, I gathered mostly from people on this board!!!

Love ya ll, love the boards, keep postin  and if you cut back because you felt you weren t being listened too, DON T!!!!  You can tell by thread stats that even though 10 people might reply to a thread, about 300 read it!  Those are still good numbers and I m sure those people have learned something valuable.

You know what would really get a lot of activity going?  If Nightowl came on and posted something like, " Hello all!"   [:)]

I know that with the warmer weather I ve noticed a lot less posting, but didn t say anything because the answer was obvious - It s Spring!!  Haven t we all be sitting around here complaining because there s to much snow and cold?  Now that it s warmer it s only natural we d complain how PUT is dying!
(notice the scarcism??!!)  Sorry, I just think it s pretty obvious why the board is slow and comments on us going under or dying are way to premature! No more scarcism from me - it doesn t come across well in print! [:D]

whitestar505Well I feel a little better now. I was sure I was the only notorious thread killer, I guess it s the nature of the beast.  I have mostly been a lurker posting very little but usally when I do the thread ends or I get no response. I do believe our forum is strong just look at the number of posts in the past 24 hours.I also believe that becoming part of this group along with experience will eventually make you an expert of our so loved hobby. Part of the fun is reading about everyones experiences and learning from them either negative or positive. It s sad to lose good people because of petty bull s... I ve always said I haven t met a camper I didn t like and I still feel that way. Birol I ve enjoyed your escapades, I ve froze my butt off delivering papers with you and had a great trip when you picked up your MOAT and by the way your English is getting much better. I ve also dreamt of diving for Abalone with Ab Diver and thanks to Dave I have a Prodigy and am in the process of building an attached table to the outside of our camper. I also wish to thank Natasha for allowing Tim to post so much great information on her site. All in all this is a great site and I will continue to lurk and post and enjoy the time I spend here. Thanks to all and if this thread dies after this post so be it.
 Happy Camping

It always has been and is nearly flawless. I never knew you were from Turkey until you mentioned it during the war...and you were here a LONG time before that.
