 I think I m going to hang out here for awhile, kinda lie low, perhaps hide behind Lori and Jacqui if necessary...   Anyone have space to hide our new trailer???

 Uh oh!  What did you do...this time?[:o][;)]

 PS  Just found out.  You re done for, girl.  You d better hope Dianne doesn t think of looking for you over here.  You may be better off hiding in one of those " PUCOTCC"  kind of forums for awhile.  This d be the first place I d look for you if it were me...

 gsm x2Molly says she doesn t like this campground. Since we take Molly with us, we ll pass on this cg.

 Ok, Paticia, what did you do now??[:)].  I guess I will have to hop around and find out.  Ok, I know I have a " Wide"  ummmm, ya know, but I don t think I am wide enough to hide a trailer. [8D][:D][;)][&:]  Sorry.

 Desert in January sounds great.  We have a camping dog that would be very upset being left out though.   Sorry, I can t commit right now.  We haven t heard anything on the transfer yet.  I am getting VERY impatient!!!  I want to commit to all these trips being planned but I just CAN T.  Grrrr....

 gsm x2Hollypop--
 The desert sounds like a great idea for MLK weekend (not thrilled about the no dogs part though).  We are definitely interested.

 gsm x2Hollypop here-

 Well maybe we can just get a January mini-rally going. Let s kick it around a bit and if we decide it s a go I ll make a note in my calendar to call the first day they will be taking reservations for that weekend.

 Another thought, and the dogs would all greatly appreciate this- there s another county campground about 4 miles down the road from Agua Caliente. This one is called Vallecito. We drove through it, it s very pretty and the sites themselves are more attractive than at Agua Caliente. However there are no hookups. We have no furnace in our little Tinker Doo but we do have a Mr. Buddy propane heater. It will get chilly there at night in January. This cg does allow dogs, and it allows campers to use the facilities (mineral pools) at Agua Caliente.  There is one central toilet/shower house. At least I think there s showers there.

 Anyway if we sacrifice hookup comfort for family pet comfort we could camp there instead and be a little away from the rest of the crowd.  Personally I have yet to dry camp and we ve owned our rig for a year now! The novelty of hookup camping has yet to wear off. But I could do it.

 gsm x2Paul L here:

 We are very much desert campers. My wife and kids love Agua Caliente thanks to the mineral pools, plus the hookups make things easy for me. There is good hiking available. Vallecitos has its own charms - chief of which are lower prices and larger campsites that are rarely full. No hookups. There is some neat history here, including a ghost story. The bathrooms at Vallecitos are run down and stinky. No showers either. Unless the county has changed their policy, Vallecitos campers must pay the $5 / car day use fee to access the showers or pools at Agua Caliente. Vallecitos sits exposed in the center of a valley - I feel it is windier here than many other places in Anza Borrego.

 We would surely attend even a mini rally at either of these spots. Perhaps Borrego Palm Canyon in the state park or even the nearby commercial RV park would be better choices if we want more people to make the trip from up north. They are about an hour to 40 minutes closer to Orange County, although it really depends on which route is taken. Borrego Palm Canyon has some great shade shelters and fireplaces in the non-hookup sites closest to the canyon. In the canyon hide beautiful palm oases set amidst a flowing stream with a waterfall. The hookup sites are close together and not particularly shaded or nice. The commercial park is Palm Canyon Resort RV Park. Their only advantage over the state park campground are a pool and jacuzzi, though they might also have meeting space for us.

 gsm x2Lori and Naomi, I was looking for something to go with a baby picture of Karen in my scrapbook, and came across these, which I thought you might like:
 *************

We both love you, and
 We both have hopes and dreams for your future.

 She carried you in her body for nine months;
 I carried you in my dreams for five years.

 She labored through birh;
 I labored through INS, social workers, and foreign law.

 She is nature;
 I am nurture.

 She wonders if you are healthy;
 I sit and rock you wondering when your fever will go down.

 She wonders if you have enough to eat;
 I wonder should I make you eat your broccoli.

 She wonders if you are happy;
 I love to hear you laugh.

 She wonders if you are loved;
 My heart melts with every smile and breaks with every tear I soothe.

 She wonders what you look like;
 I proudly display your pictures all over the house.

 She hopes you get a good education;
 I sit and help you with your homework every night.

 She wonders what you will grow up to be like;
 I teach you to be strong, independent, and to believe in yourself.

 She wonders if you will marry and have children;
 I help you plan your wedding day and cry when I hold my grandchild for the first time.

 She gave you life;
 I am grateful to her every day that you are a part of my life.

 She will always wonder about you;
 I will always be thankful to her for bringing you into this world.

 She will always be your biological mother;
 I will always be Mommy.

 =====================

 Once there were two women
 Who never knew each other
 One you do not remember
 The other you call mother

 Two different lives
 Shaped to make yours one
 One became your guiding star
 The other became your sun.

 The first gave you life
 The second taught you to live in it.
 The first gave you a need for love
 And the second was there to give it.

 One gave you a nationality
 The other gave you a name
 One gave you the seed of talent
 The other gave you an aim.

 One gave you emotions
 The other calmed your fears
 One saw your first smile
 The other dried your tears.

 One gave you up
 It was all that she could do
 The other prayed for a child
 And was led straight to you.

 And now you ask me
 Through your tears
 The age-old question
 Through the years

 Heredity or environment
 Which are you the product of?
 Neither, my darling, neither
 Just two different kinds of love.

 [Poems omitted for space considerations]

 Tricia,

 Thanks for 2 beautiful poems.  I am very familiar with the second one, but have never seen the first.  Of course, reading the poems makes me cry (it s just what we moms do) and it reminds me how fortunate we are to have an open relationship with Griffin s birthmom.  It gives me great comfort to know that she doesn t have to wonder about him but knows how much we love Griffin and how happy and loved he is, meaning that her decision to first of all, carrying this child to term and then to place him for adoption was the right one, even though it was tremendously difficult.  It also means that Griffin will never feel that he was " unwanted"  or that his birthmom didn t love him and so " gave him away"  (negative adoption language) but that she loved him so much that she gave us to him so that he would have the kind of life she would have given him if she could have.

 Most of you know that adoption is my heart s love and work.  My own fertility struggles have made me strongly pro-life (I wasn t always so and rest assured that I stop way short of bombing abortion clinics) and I deeply wish that the general public were better educated about what a loving choice adoption is--for everyone concerned.

 Sorry to go off there, but these type of things really tug at my heartstrings.  Thanks for sharing these poems and showing what a gift adoption really is.  I m off for a kleenex...[:)]

Cottonwooder

 griffsmomLori, you d like Dr. Laura s radio show.  She s such a big advocate of adoption.  Well, heck, in general she s a big advocate of taking care of kids instead of killing them.  As I come across these gems while looking for things to include in R&K s scrapbooks, I ll post them.  Some are funny, but I ll post a Kleenex warning for the others. [:)]

 gsm x2Hey Trish,

 I forgot which thread it was, but you had asked whether I had entered any of my quilts in the OC Fair...unfortunately, I didn t because I thought I wouldn t stand a snowball s chance in Sacramento of winning anything since I m just a beginner and completely self-taught.  But when we were at the fair and I was looking at some of the quilts that won prizes, I could have kicked myself!!!  I probably could have won something, although there were a few quilts that were so spectaular that they just took my breath away.  Defintiely something to aspire to next year.

 Dave always wants me to enter the food categories too.  Bless him, he seems to think that I make the world s best spaghetti sauce.  I never seem to have enough time to get anything submitted, but maybe next year, I ll get my act together in time.  [:)]

 How did you and Rebec do withyour entries?

griffsmom

 griffsmomSo I m sitting here, watching another weekend come my way only to realize that we ll be home (again [: (]) and not camping.  [:(]

 Dave is trying to get the Expy wired up for the brake controller and then we ve got to finish breaking in the engine so that we can tow the camper to the dealer and have them install our new window panel.  We had to have it replaced when the window perforated at the stitching.  he saddest part is that I can t even decide where I d go camping this weekend if I could go camping this weekend! [:o][&:]

 Can t help but wonder whether SimiRich is out camping and how the Flindersfamily are enjoying themselves at Jalama.

 :::sigh::::

OC Campers

 griffsmomI know what you mean Lori.  We haven t camped since Gold Rush.  I am having serious withdrawls.  We were supposed to go to Malibu RV last weekend but the boys got sick.

 Now this weekend we are supposed to head to Palm Springs for our annual " bake off"  in the sun.  This is our fun weekend laying around the pool ordering drinks and getting room service and Randy s company picks up the tab.  Wahoo.  Well we had just come back from dinner and were about to leave when Matt tossed his whole dinner in his lap.  DISGUSTING!!!  We head home thinking maybe it will pass.  We wait an hour and he seems fine.  We get in the car and just hit the 91 fwy and he starts hurling again.  So home we sit.  The other 2 kids are totally bummed and poor Matt just sits there looking for help from mom.   ::::sigh::::

 Maybe tomorrow will be a better day and we can still go.

 Jacqui

SimiRich

 griffsmomHi Lori!

 We were set up to be camping this weekend in VLR so we could visit Tamara s family (who lives in Murietta) but we decided not to camp because I couldn t get off early enough Fri. to beat the traffic & we thought it would be about 200 degrees there. As it turns out the weather is supposed to be cooler this weekend. [:@] Instead, we are taking a day trip & visiting on Sat. for the day only.

 The only other " planned"  camping we have is with Cottonwooder in Santa Paula and I recently found out that I will have the week between Christmas & New Years off so we plan on attending the Ccachuma Rrally! [:D]

 The summer has been busy. We wanted try to sneak a weekend to Casitas in August but it s not looking like it. Instead I think Tamara & I will be going to Vegas.

 Hope you get your window panel fixed soon & your Expy broken in. I ll bet you re chompin  at the bit. [;)]

oldmoose

 griffsmomBoy Jacqui, you re having terrible luck. I want to go camping but not able to until second week in August. There s a Boy Scout summer camp staff reunion at Camp Whitsett above Lake Isabella. It ll be dry camping. Then to Refugio in Sept. Was going camping in Oct., but that got canceled. Looking forward to Nov. in Santa Paula.

 We re still emptying boxes. Scott or Patricia, are either of you going to the Ventura Co Fair on Aug 1 or 2?
