Quotesince I m just a beginner and completely self-taught. But when we were at the fair and I was looking at some of the quilts that won prizes, I could have kicked myself!!!
Same here a few years ago!  Started sewing class in January, and didn t think I was good enough for the fair in August, and yup, kicked myself.  Same with scrapping, but after saying " I could have done that"  for a couple of years, finally took the plunge and entered.  Have been entering stuff each year since, and it s a lot of fun.  Go for it next year!  Don t know how we ve done as the fair doesn t start till next Wednesday, but we won t find out till we go on Thursday.

QuoteScott or Patricia, are either of you going to the Ventura Co Fair on Aug 1 or 2?
I ll be there on both days, Moose.  That s the weekend of the horse shows, so I ll be glued to the stables.  (Heck, if not for taking a break on Sunday, I ll be there for five days in a row!)  Big Tracy Byrd concert on Friday night that we can t wait to see.  Both girls sing along to his current hit.  On Saturday night I m helping out in the Home Arts building from 7-10pm.  Hopefully the Teams of Six will be done with by then.  Can t believe it s been a whole year ago since we first met you and Paula in there.  Have camped together three times since!  What time are you planning to be at the fair?

oldmoose

griffsmomAt the moment we re going to take the first train in on Saturday which should get us there about 10:30-45. I think we ll probably get the first rain out also, but I have to get a sign made for the PU so make have to take the 6PM train. Keep us informed as to how you did on your entries.

griffsmomBoy do I feel blessed.  My Dad and my friend who happens to be married to him (refuse to use step-mother) came out from Rhode Island this week.  There were too many guests at my sister s house, so Georgeanne and I got to camp for three nights at Canyon RV Park at Featherly Regional Park.  Nice roomy quiet campground except for traffic noise which was incessant except for a break at 4:30 a.m. Satuday morning.  Just became background noise for the most part so we would camp there again.

Not sure when we are going to the fair.  We are on the Adkins diet right now; it almost seems pointless to go to the fair if you can t eat " fair food."

My SBP friend---we may need to borrow your NNC video.  We gave ours away and are waiting for SurfCal to send us another.  But if it doesn t come today, we ll call you so we can show it to Dad and Joan.

griffsmomIf you re on any kind of diet, you shouldn t go to the fair. While I ve lost weight over the past few months, I am not going to lose sleep over what I know are diet busters. Now starting with calamari........

OC Campers

griffsmomWe drove past Canyon RV park on our way to Palm Springs this weekend and I was thinking about you and Georgeanne.  I remembered a few months ago when you were asking about CG info in the area.  We also like the park.  The freeway is a problem but after awhile you just get used to it.  If you have bicycles the bike trails go straight thru the CG too.

Scott when are you moving? [&:]  I was thinking it was this weekend.  Guess not if you were camping[:D]

griffsmomJacqui--not moving after all.  After a series of events, we decided that the move wasn t going particularly smoothly so when the owners expressed how much they would miss us and if we stayed they would NEVER raise the rent, we decided to stay.  Still have to restock the house and do some garage things.  But life got simpler.

No rent increase is a REAL plus.  Glad you aren t having to deal with packing.  You don t realize how much stuff you have till you have to fit it ina box.

g-whizTOS, anytime you want the video, just make the loooooooooong [;)] drive over.  We ll leave it on the porch if we re out when you arrive.  I ve been wondering why we haven t heard from you and G this past week or so.  Glad you managed to stay home.  Moving isn t a fun activity.

Moose, Mike won tickets to the Demolition Derby tomorrow, so we ll be going tomorrow instead of Thursday.  Wristband Day tomorrow, so we ll be riding our heads off all day.  If I m all [:D][:D][:D] when I post tomorrow night, you ll know we did well.   If I m all [:(][:(][:(], well....   (Oh, I ll be there on Friday and Saturday too.)

griffsmomI just found out that our DS, DIL and Hannah will be coming down Friday night. So, we ll all get on Metro Link Saturday to go to the fair. Patricia, do you still have my cell number? If not, I ll email it to you. Looks like we ll be going on some rides now.

Moose, please e-mail your cell phone number to me.  What time will you be arriving and leaving?  Am sure we ll see you there.  We ll probably go early enough to get a parking spot (before noon) and stay till 10pm fireworks.  We re going to the 7:30 concert that night.  Can t wait!  Had a blast today.  See you on Friday!  (Gs, will your diet permit you a trip to the fair this year?)

 griffsmomCottonwooder:

Thanks for the offer of the video.  Ray sent us a new one, which got here before they left.  They loved it.

You got us pegged.  We were making a list of the pros and cons of moving, and the #2 item on the CONS list was, " Will lose least distance traveled to Cachuma and Casitas."   That was countered by " Will win the least distance traveled to Far West,"  but the 2 campgrounds to 1 pushed toward the CON decision.

Looks like we will be going to the fair...just not sure when.  No elephant ears though...broasted chicken only please.
