birolNo, we are not dying.... and why do you call me Surely??[:D]

birolI like it at PUT. It seems we ve gone beyond the same topics being posted over and over. It s easier to keep up here, the info is great and it s friendly. The really nice part is there seems to be no more of the " this site and that site"  stuff going on. I just prefer the atmosphere here. [:)]

Well I am Shirley and I ain t dyin ! Alive and kickin  here. As for no posts since 1pm that is the middle of the work day for most people so it might be difficult to post during the day time. The campfire seems slow at times but other forums seem to be going along just fine.

birol

birolSurely Hooked up, two surelies [8D]

birolI looked at the " other"  site to see what was happening. I noticed how people on PUT are considered a " clique"  while people there participate greatly with one another.

 Hmmmmm.

It seems that on any message board, there are people who post & those who don t. Using single digit postings as a cutoff point, the other site has 79 pages of members and hit single digits on the 25th page. PUT has 24 pages of members and hits single digits on the 16th page. That means that 66% of the people who are here participate, with greater than 10 posts,  while 31.6% of those on the other site do. Maybe the ones over there who do the most posting just consider themselves beyond being a " clique" . The ones there who whine the most are also the ones with the most posts! LOL

And, at least 67% of the members here must be part of the always dammed PUT " clique" !

The slowdown here can probably be attributed to the " growing"  of our popup owners. The more  we re in our popups, the more we learn. The more we know, the less we need to ask for help. Seems to me that there was a burst of new owners in the past few years and that the trend has tapered off. Less newbies and smarter current owners just yields the lesser postings. It s not a reflection on PUT or on anyone.

I m happy here. Having our own message board AND magazine is great! (Plus, I like Dave [;)])!

 birolMe being positive:
No this board is not dying it s great here, and it s so much easier to keep-up with the reading. I only need to check-in once a week, and read for 2 minutes now.[:)]

 Me being negative:
I think we are very close to the point, Where everyone will stop bothering to check here anymore. At least that s what I ve been noticeing.[:(]

 Take your pick!

birolWhatever happens will happen. I do like the maturity of this board, in terms of the content. So it s probably not a place that newbies will be really attracted to since most of us have learned what we need to know. Of course the technical knowledge is always there if somebody has a question.

I see PUX developing identically, if not faster than PUT did.  I think he will eventually run into the exact same thing Dave did. He ll have to solicit for donations. He ll get some but not enough money to cover his costs, and then he ll have to charge or downgrade the services. The cycle will repeat itself. I think it s only a matter of time. When you have a good thing going (i.e. free) and lots of people find out about it, it grows out of control. That said, Dean has been very classy diplomatic about the whole thing. If he can make it work for free as long as or longer than Dave did, then kudos to him. But he has mentioned it s difficult financially.

While I lurk at PUX, this board fills a different niche for me and it feels like home. If we are slowly dying, then I ll die along with it. I ll continue supporting PUT and the message board until/if Dave pulls the plug on it. I ve learned what I needed to learn. I m here to help if I can, but don t really need a popup board anymore. I want it and like the people here.

The slower pace is nice, but I completely understand why others would like to see more activity.

birol

birolOk, before someone sends the black suited people coming out from black cadillacs to my door, I wanted to see some activity [8D][8D][8D] and got it [;)]

Jeffrey

birolI figured the end was very close a month or more ago.

When the word got out Fleetwood was discontinuing the limited lifetime warrenty.
That would have been a big topic here.
But nobody even bothered to copy/paste it and bring it over here.
So I guessed we all knew then everyone reads them all, so there is no point in mentioning it.

This used to be the place for the lastest in PopUp rumors and news.
 It is no more.[&:]

Oh well, for those who like slow pace, just wait. Your going to get it, in about 6-7 months?

forestwalker

birolNo we are not dying-In fact we are still growing.Look at the membership #s.Also, many of posts are in the club forums.Lots of good communications there(including general information).

MtnCamper

birolI really think the 10 day downtime hurt A LOT!  People get in a habit of not checking the board too. If you don t read it, you don t post.[;)]

topcat7736

birolWell, at least we get the largest amount of classified ads (since you don t need to be a member to post one). As of now, 94 of the 181 classified ads on this board were placed by " Guest" . Oh yeah, the " other"  place charges for classified ads and you ll find the ones there posted here as well. Of course, there s always the few who won t pay to advertise there but will post here for free.

It s a shame we don t have the archives available. Some of their newbies might enjoy reading the shameless things said by the now holier-than-thou people over there who feel they were unjustly treated by PUT. Might make them think twice about with whom they re spending their time.

You mean I am part of a clique? OOMMGGG my high school dream come true! HA HA HA. Isn t silly for adults to be talking of other adults as being in cliques?

Tim5055

birolI agree with Gary, the down time seems to have slowed things down.

So far this is about the fourth time I have read that PUT was dead[&:].  So far it has come back every time.  Doesn t even seem to need life support.

As I know very well, every site on the internet costs money.  IMHO Dave is up front about the costs while other are trying to keep thing going.  I am a firm believer, there is no free lunch.  If you don t pay up front, you will pay some other way eventually.
