Quote from: birolI thought courtesy of Finally would implicate that it is free :):):) If you come to the rally you get it :) Free :) Otherwise I will personally bring it to you when we visit Ohio !
Since I know we won't be at the rally, I guess I'll have to wait till we meet in Ohio.

You know what birol - that is an excellent idea.  I never would've thought of that.  I would just be worried that it might be traumatizing to the poor little doggie meeting so many different people and being in so many different vehicles.  I am up for it if it works out.  THIS is why I love PUT.

I can cover eastern IN and western OH area!

Rescue organizations do this frequently ! Miss-Teri, do you want to spearhead this and see if there is enough people to pull this one off ?

Looks like we need to cover, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Kentucky, West Virginia, Copcarguy will be willing to drive to the Wv/Pa border to pick his new friend up. Can Miss-Teri drive it or arrange it to be driven to Arkansas border ?

Areas to cover :

Arkansas
Tennessee
Kentucky
West Virginia

Only for states, and you do not have to drive him thought the whole state, please just state from where to where and it will all fall into place in no time.

Miss-Teri

I can probably even arrange to fill in all the holes with rescue transporters.  But he has to decide on a dog first!  We have to come up with the "perfect" one, because it's not an easy return if it doesn't work out.  I'm checking into some potentials right now and I'll try to come up with a list and pictures to see if Copcarguy and 'girl like any of them.

We head to Yellowstone in a week so I'm kind of pre-vacation frazzled right now trying to remember everything we need and need to do, but I'll help in any way I can.

Tell me if you see anything on the website that you might be interested in and I'll find out more about them.  Some possibilities I saw include:

Buena
Brooke
Cheetah
Cowly
Diva
Eden
Giselle
Libby
Melissa
Peggy
Pandy
Pimento
Roo
Sabrina
Simone
Shadow
Stormie
Shawnee
Tyne

I'm guessing you want an indoor dog when you're not travelling, right?  And what kind of fence do you have?  We have an occasional fence jumper that needs a 6 ft fence.

copcarguy

WOW - you guys are so cool!  Miss-Teri, we plan to look at your website tonight and we'll see if we can pick one.  We'll keep in touch!  Thanks to all!

Miss-Teri

Another place to check is //www.petfinder.com .  Enter in your state, choose "dog", and enter sex of the dog you're looking for.  There are about 500 dogs.  Wish you could exclude the long-haireds from the list - that would cut it down quite a bit.  It still might be difficult to impossible to get one there as they get adopted so fast in NY.

Here's one I thought was cute, but it didn't say if she is quiet or rowdy - noisy would be bad for a campin' dog!

And this one - Greyhounds are great indoor dogs, very quiet and calm inside.  I think one of our PUT members has a couple of camping Greyhounds.

And if you like any of ours, give me a list and I'll see what I can find out about each!

We get so many dogs from shelters here, unfortunately - and there are so many that can't be saved.  There is even a very rare fullblood Finnish Lapphund in a shelter in north Oklahoma that they've asked us to take, but it's just impossible to find room for them all.  While we do turn a lot of people down, homes like yours (a previous long-lived, obviously very loved pet, and wanting the dog to go camping with you and be part of the family) are an easy approval.

Good luck on try #2!

WOW!  Very Pretty dogs!  I had never seen a Lapphund before.  I fancy the more unusual and rare breeds!

Hey all!

www.petfinder.com is where we found the 1st dog... We're kinda searched out/disappointed with that site.  We're still hurt by what that shelter did.

Petfinder.com shows different rescues/shelters from all over the country.  We have our dogs (and cats) on there too.  So don't be completely disheartened over what one shelter did.

Have you found anything interesting yet?  Oh, and back to the other questions - what size fence do you have (if you have one), and will it be an indoor dog?

Emergency Vets last night covered a greyhound rescue who adopts out racing greyhounds around the country.  It was very interesting and the dogs they showed seemed very loving and friendly.   They were saying that they make the best pets.

But of course I expected them to favor them and not show the bad ones.

Depending on the are of KY needed, I may be able to help.  I live in SW Ohio and can cover..

SW Ohio, SE Indiana, mid-Northern KY

Miss-Teri - we looked at your website and found 8 that we liked...  Our super favorite was Sabrina.  Copcargirl fell in love with her.  Is she still there??

Also, we don't have any fence whatsoever, and yes, the doggie will be indoors when we're not camping, boating, hiking, and doing all the other stuff we're into!

Miss-Teri

I will do some checking on Sabrina for ya!

Sabrina is a pretty dog!

The suspense is killing us...  :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy:

Can we have Sabrina????
