Ok, How about camping William Heise April 15 - 17? We reserved site #8 for that weekend. If you are interested, reserve on line. Super easy.

http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/camping/heise.html

Sites have electric, no water hook up. Worked out great the last time we went. It was $41.00 for the weekend. (includes the dog)

Sites are paved.

Bathrooms/Showers very close.

Let me know which site you have reserved and I'll keep a list.

:yikes: Just a heads-up, I just got online tonight to see what spaces were left and all the group/hook-up site were taken for the April 15th dates....

How close is the non-hook-up area to the group area???? Can you see it or is it a hike???

Thx Matt in San Diego (Eastlake area)

Short walk.  Try spaces close to the dump station.  34,25,36,37..I think they are big spots.  It's nice to have the bathrooms right there.

I'm in!  I've got spot 33.  Wow ...  a big step!  My first group "thing" with my trailer.  Boy, it better be good weather!  Now, what do I need to know about doing the group "thing"?  Are there pot-lucks, group activities -- what?  I'm going to have my dog, Brandy (big, loveable Lab) along, so going places without her won't be an option.  Do you all just hang around the campground?  I know, too many questions!  But, thanks anyway!

Usually this group just plays it by ear..Pot luck on Saturday dinner, sometimes a Sat AM breakfast...all depends on the group. I haven't checked on local activities and possible day trip to site-see

Hello fellow campers (azusateach & mrflinders),

It looks like we will all be camped next to each other, I can't wait!!!! I was wondering if its now ok to have fires in the firepits now? I would guess with all the rain this year that should not be an issue for April.

This will be my first dry camping trip with the new PU and I want to see how long the water and power lasts over a 2-3 day trip....

This will be my first SCcamper rally, so let me know if I need to bring anything or if there is some type of traditional act that all new SCcamper must do to become official!!! LOL

I look forward to your responses!!

Matt -
I'm dry camping, too, but I have a generator, and I'm next door.  If you need power, we can work something out.  I think the water thing will be okay if you just use it for washing dishes & maybe a nighttime potty flush.  I've done lots of dry camping with a friend's motorhome, and water seems to last quite a while.  It'll be the power that you need to be mindful of.  Lights are sneaky little things, as will be the furnace if it gets chilly.  That's why I've got the generator (a Honda EU2000i), and it won't be noisy -- I promise!
This my first SCCampers outing, too.  So if we have to go through some sort of rite of passage,  :yikes:  we won't be alone!
   See you soon!

:p  Thanks for the offer!

I really want to see how the battery holds-up, I am trying to see if a 45watt solar panel would be ideal for this type of camping in the future. The generator sounds like a great deal too. I think that Honda generator will even run my Carrier A/C....

I have to LOL, to wonder if there is a right of passage!!! The bigger thing I need to know is there a sign or stick we place on our riggs to show we are SCcampers in the future???

I did not see anything about this on the SCcamper sight!!!!

Anyway... I'm glad the family will not be the only greenies on the trip!!!!

Bringing Wife, and two kids and 4 bikes... no doggies yet!!!

We went camping in Sequoia this past year in our old Santa Fe CP and it was our 1st trip dry camping.  I was apprehensive dry camping because I was afraid of running out of water.  We stayed 3 nights and had no problem being w/o hookups.  We didn't use our fridge to save our propane not knowing how much we'd use.  We used more lights than usual and the heater during the night.  When our water ran low, we filled a container and poured into the resevior.  Being that we're only going to be there for 3 nights, you'd have no problem living off your fully charged battery, full propane and water is plentiful.
