Hi Leslie and welcome to PUT and SCCampers! :W

I'm glad you found us and have already jumped in on one of the many rallies we are having. Someone is almost always camping somewhere so camping alone with the kids can be a thing of the past as much as you wish. I have a 4 y/o DS, and while I'm not a single mom, I was raised by one, so you have my utmost respect and admiration! Heaven knows it can be difficult enough trying to raise a child even with two parents! :eyecrazy:

Be sure to check out the other threads for upcoming rallies planned throughout the summer and fall. Our bigger rallies are Pismo Beach in June which is held in conjunction with our sister camping club up north, Nick-Neff-Cough, and then the 3rd Annual SCCampers' Trick-or-Treat in Temecula at Vail Lake Resort in October. We'll also be in your neck of the woods in November at Campland by the Bay to celebrate Dee4j's 40th birthday. I hope you'll be able to make some (or better yet--all!) of those.

Anyway, welcome again, and hope to camp with you soon!

PS  Thanks for sharing your pictures with us.  I got a kick out of your dog with goggles on, ready for his ride on the beach! :J And you have beautiful children. :)

Here is the link to some pictures I have posted in my msn group page.  There are some pictures of the trailer when we were in San Felipe (the dates on the pictures are incorrect they should read Jan 2005).

Hi Leslie,
Welcome to the ScCampers!  My 12yo son also has autism and loves camping.  We also have an 8yo girl.  We're not going to William Heise in April but will be at Vail Lakes in October and at Campland in December.  Looking forward to meeting you.

OC Campers

Welcome Leslie, so glad to have you and your kids be a part of this wonderful group.  We have camped with these great folks for the past 3 years (until we moved up North).  You will find that it is hard to camp alone once you camp with this group.  My kids have made fantastic friends and miss them a lot.  I too have a daughter, who will be 14 in July.  It is hard finding camping girls for them to hang out with.  By this age, they usually don't want to hang out with mom and dad anymore (let alone camping).  Enjoy your new to you camper.  It is so nice getting off the ground.

Welcome Leslie and welcome to the group.  It looks like I have to be in Oakland on April 15, so will miss this rally.  But look forward to seeing you at another one soon.

Hello PopUpMomma,

I was just trying to find out if you had a complete list of PU campers for the William Heise mini-rally and the spaces everyone is in. It looks like we are adding one or two campers every month.... Sounds like alot of fun for all of us.

I'm taking the family to Wilderness Lakes over Easter. I will give everyone a report on this semi-private campground...

See ya all soon.. :p

WELCOME

Glad you found us. Can't wait to meet you , in April I will be camping a little closer to home for me, but will be in pismo in June (Sept, maybe labor still thinking) in Oct. Vail lakes..a must for your kids they will love it. November we will be at Campland celebrating my  belated (due to no openings)
4oth B-day  :yikes:  and I have the supersite. If you've ever wanted to go there I would sign up for this one, they're group rate is hard to pass up.

it's so nice camping with others, the kids don't get "bored" as fast there's LOTS of good food at the potluck.  See you soon :D

I am keeping a list of all future trips at http://www.sccampers.org/futuretrips.htm

I think it is up-to-date, but e-mail me if something needs changing.

I don't know if this was mentioned before or not but there is a large area in the center of the circle of sites with hookups that would be a good place to have the potlucks. I was there today and saw it, they have about 10 picnic tables all together in the center area. If there is anybody who made reservations in the hookup area needs to back out and needs to give up the site, we would be willing to take it off your hands. I haven't made reservations yet and since I waited, all of the close sites are taken.  :yikes:  I figured it might be easier being closer to the main group and the park.

Is there a list of who has which spot?

I wouldn't mind helping Kim with the hosting we are next to her and so is my daughter...How far is the group fire ring and tables from our sites?  Does anyone know we are in 6 and 7 sites..Does anyone know if they will let us have fires in April.  I hope so if so we can bring some firewood for the group.

PopUpMomma

The fire ring and tables are a hop, skip and a jump from the caravan area.  Infact, the caravan area circles the ring, tables etc.  We won't know if they will allow fires until we get up there.  So far, we've been able to have fires.  It's been wet enough ... so we will keep a thought and hope for the best.  Thanks for hosting.!!!...or should I say co-hosting.

Ok, this is what I came up with which is almost exact to what Scott has posted in  http://www.sccampers.org/futuretrips.htm  Do we want to keep track of how many in each site?

Estone

Hi everyone,

My name is Estelle Stone and we are new to the SCcampers.  We have made our reservations for Heise and are in spot #32.  I've been reading all of your posts and looking forward to meeting everyone.  I have a hubby, and 3 boys (19, 10 and 8)  Our 19 year old usually doesn't go with us on camping trips unless it's Tahoe in the summers. :(

He goes to college full time and works a lot.  But we are very excited to meet everyone.  :)    I've also signed up for Halloween at Vail.   We love to camp and it just sounds like so much more fun with great people to be around.

Just wanted to introduce ourselves and I've already sent a little bio to Scott who said maybe in the next few days it should be on the site.

Let me know what I can bring for Saturday in April.  We are actually going to Pismo end of this month.  I'm thinking of going for the rally in June.  My dh can't go because of a Mexico surf trip, but I'm trying to get the nerve to go with my two youngest by myself.   We'll see if I think I can make it.

Talk to you all soon!!

Hello gang, ;)

Well Estelle makes a big Ten (10) PU's for the April trip with a lot of us "newbees" attending. This is going to be great, it looks like plenty of kids to play with! So like I said - who is going to be in charge of the Potluck list... I'm in for carne-asada, tortillas, and salsa..... mmmmmmmm I'm hungry already,,,,,,

See ya soon!!! :D

Estone

Should I bring dinner or dessert?  I'm a pretty good cook, if I do say so myself. ;)   Or both??  I saw a post somewhere earlier that asked how you all fit all the food in your trailers?  I'm curious also.  I have a small fridge, but what we've done in the past is loan a big cooler of refrigerated food.  Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Estelle

Welcome all Newbies!!! We usually bring whatever we want for the dinner potluck. Don't make enough for everyone to eat because there will be so much food that everyone will probably taste a bit of everything.

Do you guys want to do a Sat breakfast potluck also?  If so, the same applies.

For all you new comers, you will learn the name of my kids VERY quickly.  You will hear Joshua (Joshy & Josh) frequently.  He's the adventurous one and doesn't listen to what mom & dad have to say.  Matt will most likely be touching, picking on Josh.  Sarah will be the quiet one minding her own business.

Looking forward to the trip.

Kim
